In the event it wasn’t painfully obvious well before President Trump nominated Amy Coney Bennett to the Supreme Court, it became crystal clear during Judge Barrett’s confirmation hearings that Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) is not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.
For instance, Hirono read from a prepared notebook in actually asking Barrett if she had ever raped anyone. Here was her exact question: “Since you became a legal adult, have you ever made unwanted requests for sexual favors or committed any verbal or physical harassment or assault of a sexual nature?”
In another moment that sealed Hirono’s place in the wackadoodle hall of fame, Hirono took issue with Judge Barrett’s use of the term “sexual preference” when talking about gay rights cases. “Sexual preference is an offensive and outdated term, it is used by anti-LGBTQ activists to suggest that sexual orientation is a choice — it is not,” Hirono claimed at the time.
As it turns out, “sexual preference” is, in reality, a frequently used term among Democrats and radical left-wing LGBTQ groups alike. Even the late Democratic icon and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was known to use the term, as has Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden over the years.
Fast forward to yesterday as Amy Coney Barrett was being confirmed by the Senate to the Supreme Court. While the vote was being taken, you see Hirono talking out of frame in the video below, presumably to Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). As the roll call continued on, you see a petulant looking Hirono walking down the steps, her arms crossed in front of her in a show of agitation and frustration.
Hirono then proceeded to walk to the Senate dais in order to cast her “no” vote. But instead of simply saying “no”, Hirono can be heard at around the 35-second mark in the video saying poutingly “I would like to say hell no” before angrily marching off the floor.
Turn up the sound and watch. Hirono is the woman in the orangey-pink jacket seen towards the top right side of the video:

MRC-TV posted a zoomed-in clip of Hirono’s protest vote, which confirmed she was also wearing the same Ruth Bader Ginsburg mask she wore throughout prior weeks’ proceedings on ACB’s nomination.
This is not the first time Hirono has stormed off in a huff from a Senate proceeding. During an August Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing on the Antifa/BLM-led violence taking place in Democrat-run cities across America, Hirono repeatedly refused subcommittee chair Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) request to directly and unequivocally condemn the radical leftist group Antifa.
Instead, Hirono chose to pack up her things and walk out of the hearing before it was over.
Methinks Hirono, like her colleague Schumer, needs to fill out one of those “hurt feelings” forms Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) only half-jokingly talked about last week on “Fox and Friends.” She should also, as Kennedy advised Schumer, find it within herself to grow up and “move on.”
