As the protesting/rioting/looting has played out in cities across America this week, I’ve noticed that there’s one particularly important piece of information mainstream media reporters and Democrats have curiously left out of their stories/tweets on the protests.
Where are all the lectures from them about staying at home, social distancing, and wearing masks?
A few Democratic politicians, like the inept mayor of Minneapolis, have virtue signaled to protesters about wearing masks and social distancing, but most of our intellectual betters in the Democratic party and the MSM have largely gone silent on the matter.
This in spite of the fact that Americans who marched over a period of several weeks last month and earlier this month in an effort to get their states to begin the process of reopening were met with contempt and ridicule by well-known media figures like CNN’s Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo, Wolf Blitzer, and Jim Acosta.
Lemon, Cuomo, Blitzer, and Acosta were among the many reporters/Dems (but I repeat myself) who accused Americans who wanted to get back to work of being selfish people who were okay with senior citizens dying from the Wuhan coronavirus if it meant they could “get a haircut” and get back to being greedy capitalists or something.
Now all of a sudden we’re not hearing much of anything from these same people about how it would be safer to stay at home, how gathering in tight clusters of people will rapidly spread the virus, and how you must wear a mask and social distance if you have to go out in public.
Though many in the media and on the left have conveniently forgotten their prior lectures on this subject, Fox Los Angeles reporter Bill Melugin – who has been like a pit bull in demanding answers from state leaders in recent weeks regarding lockdowns – remembered them, and made these spot-on observations:
One thing these protests have revealed is how ridiculous and arbitrary these stay at home orders & social distancing lectures have been.

I wrote a short thread on this very thing last night:
I'm seeing bullhorns being passed around at these protests after being used by people who pulled their masks down to yell at the crowd. We need our mask monitors to weigh in here on how dangerous that is. @brianstelter @oliverdarcy @kaitlancollins @weijia

I am 100% serious about this. Every week there was a Reopen protest here in NC, journalists would rush to write about those who didn't wear masks and who didn't social distance. I'm waiting for those same journalists to weigh in tonight with the same lectures. #ncpol

I also brought it up today in response to North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) leaving out any mention of how dangerous it is to gather in large groups in two tweets he posted in support of the George Floyd protesters:
Cooper looked the other way when Reopen protesters, pro-life counselors were arrested for allegedly not social distancing/abiding by 10 person limit & when biz owners were arrested. There's no call from him to follow said guidelines this time. Says a lot, doesn't it? #ncpol #ncga https://t.co/kFhfiOmZJK

So odd. I mean, what got them to go quiet on the need to stay at home all of a sudden?
That was a rhetorical question, of course. We all know for danged sure why they have, and it has nothing to do with any supposed commitments to the First Amendment and justice for victims. They lost the very tenuous claims they (thought they) had on that moral high ground a long time ago.
