Joe Biden’s basement presidential campaign is not going well at all. In fact, it’s going so badly that it might be a good idea for one his handlers to step in and start conducting interviews on his behalf. At least then maybe we’ll start getting answers to questions that actually make sense.

The latest instance of Biden rambling incoherently on live TV about an issue of national importance came just this morning, in an interview he did with ABC News “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos.

Stephanopoulos, as most people reading this probably already know, is a former Bill Clinton senior adviser with deep ties to the Democratic party. So his questions to Democratic guests are more often than not softballs. But today he threw the presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee a curveball by way of a question about his former Senate staffer Tara Reade’s sexual assault allegations against him and what he would say to voters who chose to believe her and not vote for him because of it.

Biden’s answer literally made no sense:

Stephanopoulos: On these allegations from Tara Reade, I know you deny them, but you’ve also said that women should be believed. So what do you say to Americans who believe Tara Reade and won’t vote for you because of it?

Biden: Well, that’s their right. Look here, look, I think women should be believed. They should have an opportunity to have their case and state it just forthrightly, what their case is. Then it’s the responsibility of responsible journalists like you and everyone else to go out and investigate those. The end of the day, the truth is the truth. That’s what should prevail. And the truth is this never happened. This never happened, I assure you. That’s the truth.

Seems to be saying ‘I think women should be believed, but at the end of the day you should believe me’ or something.

Watch the video below, from which you can get a better feel for how his answer was an absolute garbled mess:

We’re gonna need a translator to step in on that one, methinks.

Unfortunately for him, that wasn’t Biden’s only botched answer to a question from Stephanopoulos today. As my RedState colleague Nick Arama wrote this morning, Biden was finally asked about the DOJ’s decision to drop the case against Gen. Michael Flynn and it didn’t go well, either.

The answer Biden gave on the Reade question is unlikely to help his poll numbers with female voters, which are now tanking in light of the story finally gaining traction online and in the news, which I wrote about earlier.
