A video shared by a White House staffer captures press secretary Karoline Leavitt praying to Jesus for guidance before she heads out to another press briefing to take on the reporters in the room.
Leavitt has often cited her Catholic education for instilling discipline and making her the confident woman she is today.
“Lord Jesus, please give us the strength, the knowledge, the ability to articulate our words, have fun and be confident. In Jesus’s name. Amen," she says while waiting behind the entrance to the briefing room.
Communications Director Margo Martin shared the clip on X Friday afternoon. It has already amassed over one million views.
"This is your [press secretary], America," Martin wrote, adding a praying and American flag emoji.

Leavitt, the youngest White House Press Secretary in U.S. history, has said she prays daily and cites her Roman Catholic upbringing in shaping her beliefs.
During a Catholic Current podcast in 2021, she emphasized that point.
“My upbringing is absolutely everything to me. It is why I’m a conservative, it’s why I believe in the American dream,” Leavitt explained.
“It taught me discipline, it brought me closer in my own relationship with God, and it also taught me the importance of public service and giving back to your community.”
Incredible seeing Karoline Leavitt, the youngest person to serve as White House Press Secretary, unapologetically wear a Christian cross during her first press briefing.

Now, she's giving back to the entire country by delivering truths that the media so often deny.
A Wall Street Journal profile in February cites Leavitt as leaning on her faith to express her confidence when dealing with reporters.
The confidence, she says, “comes from the foundation from my upbringing, great parents, my faith, and also being an athlete—confidence was instilled in me at a young age.”

In an interview with The Christian Broadcasting Network last week, Leavitt revealed why she takes the time to pray before dealing with a typically hostile press corps.
"I think that team prayer before is just a moment to be silent and still and ask God for confidence and the ability to articulate my words, knowledge, prayer, protection, and it is a nice moment to reset," she said. "It's the last thing I do before I go out there, and then it just gives me the confidence to do a briefing."
That confidence shows every day she stands behind that podium and swats away false narrative upon false narrative from mainstream media reporters.
One wonders if her prayer asking "to articulate our words" is a subliminal dig at her predecessor, Karine Jean-Pierre, whose favorite word during her press briefings was "uh" and who often had to tell reporters she'd get back to them regarding basic facts, even despite having the help of a trusty binder of information.
