Orange Man Bad, No Matter What

You got to hand it to some in media.

To them, the story in the arson attack against Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro isn't how the left whips up issues that push unhinged people into violence. That incident involved an anti-Israel person who made what looks like radical leftist posts. The issue is somehow always the Republican reaction and the evil Orange Man.

Let's hear from the "senior political columnist" at Politico, Jonathan Martin, who posted his own appearance on ABC and attacked Trump for not calling Shapiro or putting out a statement on the day it happened.

Wow. Considering the failure of the prior person who occupied the Oval Office with his cognitive decline and how so much of the media failed to call him out on it, this is quite some statement.

Not to mention of course that President Donald Trump did make a statement the next day, doing the most important thing: condemning the attack, saying, "A thing like that cannot be allowed to happen." So Martin was just flat out wrong.

Josh Shapiro also didn't call Trump after he was shot.

So? I don't look at him askance for that.

What about dealing with the real issues? Where's the calling out of the left on violence? That would seem to be the important thing here. The focus maybe should be on this person firebombing a governor's home on Passover and making statements about Palestinians. This had nothing to do with Trump.

We've seen the violence from the left for decades, most recently in regard to the fighting in Gaza and in regard to attacking Tesla as a shameful way to attack Trump and Elon Musk. They've firebombed Tesla properties, damaged cars (likely many owned by Democrats), and even allegedly attacked people.

There's even a crazy embrace from the left of Luigi Mangione, a man accused of gunning down a healthcare CEO in the street. My colleague Brad Slager wrote that the "Worst Outlet" of the week was CNN for its interview with Taylor Lorenz where she appeared to fan-girl all over Mangione.

Is that too big an "ask" for people on the left to condemn the violence? To condemn the attacks on Tesla in a loud and very clear way, instead of giving a wink and nod as Jimmy Kimmel did?

Jimmy Kimmel Gives a Wink and a Nod to Tesla Terrorism, Then Throws a Tantrum When Musk Calls Him on It

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) did. But there are constant lies from Democratic politicians about what Trump and Musk are doing, which contributes to the insanity. I've lost count of how many have lied about Social Security being cut by Musk, a straight-up falsehood. Where's more calling out from the left about the anti-semitism in their own party and harassing of Jewish students on campuses?

This is a real concern given recent polls finding a shocking percentage of folks on the left who think killing President Trump or Elon Musk would be "somewhat justified."

Maybe that and decades of violence are more of a problem than if Trump makes a phone call to someone after already condemning what happened? Just saying.

For some in the media, it always seems to be about "Orange Man bad," no matter what. Maybe instead of, for the umpteenth time, making it about Trump, they could take the blinders off and have a little real reflection about the unhinged left.

But then they'd have to deal with a truly ugly reality that has been there for a long time.
