President Donald Trump is trying to change the landscape of trade with his tariff gambit.
Of course, Democrats are losing their minds over it, even though they were part of the reason that things have gotten to such a point and why the system has become so broken to the disadvantage of America. They haven't been concerned about bringing manufacturing back to this country or shoring up American industry. At least not recently. Once upon a time, the Democrats did understand the problem.

But they haven't rectified it. Now Trump is taking it on, head on, so of course, suddenly they're quiet on their past support.
Now you get crazy responses like this meltdown from Chris Matthews about wood instead on "Morning Joe." I think even Mika Brzezinski wasn't buying this one; you can see what looks like a smirk on her face as Matthews loses his mind.
Chris Matthews on MSNBC:

"We get so much of our lumber, our two by fours from from Canada....What are we going to do? Have more lumber made in the United States now?!"
"What is our plan now...? We're going to create more wood. Is that it?!"

"We get so much of our lumber, our two by fours from from Canada," Matthews claimed. "That's where we get our newsprint from...What are we going to do? Have more lumber made in the United States now?!
What is our plan now...We're going to make more wood?
Are we going to make more wood in this country because of our trade deal?! I don't think so!"
Yeah, actually, that's exactly "the idea," as the Trump administration explained from their Rapid Response account.

That's exactly part of the strategy about building and preserving industries here, not just letting them flee overseas.
It should be noted that yes, while we do import wood from Canada as Matthews notes, we also make it and export it, including to Canada. Matthews seems to leave that out of the equation, acting as though we don't have any capacity. Um, Chris? Pro tip? We do have trees. Does he not know where wood comes from?

This guy really needs to be laughed into next week with this hot take. But this is how clueless the left and MSNBC are.
It's all about making that shift back to our own industry, bringing more jobs back and not having to rely on imports as much. The U.S. imports a lot of softwood from Canada, but the Southern US region is set to eclipse Canada for softwood lumber capacity because of tariffs already in play.
I'm guessing Chris doesn't know that. But given this hot take, I'm not sure what Chris knows that he doesn't even understand that yes, we make our own wood. Perhaps he's distracted because he no longer gets that "tingle" up his leg?
Either way, what a golden example of how unhinged leftist takes are on tariffs.
