I'm not sure who it is who's advising Democrats to put out ridiculous videos.
It's not a great tactic. They're either cringeworthy and/or just attacking President Donald Trump. They don't offer anything constructive, although some of them are unintentionally funny. They're so easy to mock; the Democrats just keep setting themselves up to look silly and impotent.
Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) put out a video that had people thinking she looked like a bag lady. Some Democratic women, including the House Minority Whip Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA), put out a "choose your fighter" video for no explainable reason except to look ridiculous. The Trump team then mocked it, with a video of their own, responding that the American people had "chosen their fighters" -- the Trump team.

But it looks like Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) isn't able to read the room. He put out his own "Let me talk like a TikToker" video, which he termed a "Message" to Trump in his original YouTube. Schiff argued that we are now living in a "climate of fear," which he claims MAGA has created, and that this is a tool of "dictators."
Talk about projection. It was under the Democrats that we had prosecution of a political opponent/presidential candidate, not to mention an effort to even keep him off the ballot. It was under the Democrats that we had censorship on social media. It was Donald Trump's tax returns that were leaked.
This is exactly what Democrats did to us. We've never done this to them.

Indeed, Schiff is trying to whip up fear here against Trump and the Republicans as he talks about a "climate of fear." What exactly is he trying to encourage people to do, when he says they must have "courage"? Courage against what? Against the positive message that Trump is expressing to make American great again? Against improving the lives of Americans?
But it's the only play Democrats know, and it's the same playbook they're pulling from for the last 10 years: hate Trump, fear Trump. Schiff didn't put one positive thing the Democrats have to offer to make things any better; that's their problem. "Screw you and the horse you rode in on"? Boy, that'll stop Trump, and that's constructive.

By the way, Schiff cites FDR. But it was Democrat FDR who brought real fear and really acted like a dictator when he locked up Americans in "relocation camps."
I suspect, for Schiff, this is about fear -- he's telling on himself, about the fear that they are losing control, and fear that he might be held accountable.
The reason that Democrats' numbers are in the basement is because of just this kind of approach. It's also because Trump is talking about and actually working to solve issues. That's why Trump's polls are doing so much better than the Democrats.
And that's what the Democrats are truly fearful about.
