Nate Silver is a liberal but he has shown he's sometimes willing to question folks on the left when they're wrong or silly.
On Saturday, he called out former Washington Post writer and current podcaster Taylor Lorenz for being wrong about how the left didn't have billionaires backing left-wing influencers and that, in reality, there is "more money in progressive circles."
There's >= more money in progressive circles than in conservative circles. Harris raised more money than Trump. If Talyor Lorenz is mad that she's not getting more subscribers, maybe it's because she doesn't offer a good product. https://t.co/uStWGEv3Ve

Silver's point explains why Kamala Harris raised more money than Trump. Not to mention the control that the left has over virtually all of the mainstream media. The left is mad that its almost total dominance now has to compete with some social media that isn't completely controlled by leftists like X or influencers who might voice other opinions.
Then Silver pointed out that maybe you should question someone who wouldn't even be straight about the date she was born.
Like just a basic thing but you should probably not trust a "journalist" who refuses to disclose the year in which they were born. pic.twitter.com/YaS5Zfk0rY

That causes Lorenz to have a major fit, saying that people like Silver wouldn't engage with her directly.
He responded he'd do a Substack with her if she revealed her birthdate, but she must include the year.
* Must include the year.

Lorenz then claimed that she didn't post such information because people have harassed or threatened her. What would her being straight about her age have to do with any of that? But hey, why be logical here when she's having a hissy? She also said that men like Nate Silver were obsessed with her age because they couldn't find fault with her "reporting." No, Taylor, that's not it.
Men like @NateSilver538 obsess about my age & details of my personal life bc they fundamentally cannot find fault with my actual reporting. Nate would rather incite his weird fans to doxx me than actually have a conversation about politics and the things I cover.

I didn't see any effort by Silver to dox her, despite her claim. But she continued to shout at him over several posts.
“I won’t debate you until I can post ur social security number”
— Taylor Lorenz (@TaylorLorenz) November 24, 2024
“I won’t debate you until I can post ur home address”
“I won’t debate you until I can post ur legal name”
It is so telling how this man won’t engage with my actual ideas!!!
Gee, and she wonders why people might not want to engage with her when she goes off into fantasy like this?
But on top of that, she cut off responses to her posts so people couldn't engage with her and question her claims.
Silver responded, saying he thought she was older than her image on her account would suggest, but then he deleted saying he thought that was a bit mean. But it was funny because he then included it in his new tweet, as our friends at our sister site Twitchy reported.
Deleting this because it's mean. I don't think highly of this person but I also don't know this person. pic.twitter.com/jSJQNArsEC

That did not appease the execrable Lorenz, who then asserted after all that whining that she was 50.
I am a 50 yr old woman who u have been posting abt all day unprompted! Then when I call u on it and say, hey Nate, why don’t u actually try having a single conversation with me instead of constantly misrepresenting my reporting and beliefs online, u encourage fans to dox me
— Taylor Lorenz (@TaylorLorenz) November 24, 2024
Actually, she was the one posting about him all day long. She couldn't stop there, even calling him a name and saying she would "wipe the floor with him."
Because he is too much of a pussy to engage with me intellectually so he has to fixate on the things these men always fixate on: my age (I’m 50!), my sexuality, my personal life etc. He knows that if he actually spoke to me about my reporting I would wipe the floor with him

People had questions about that claim of being 50. If she's 50, why was she in a "40 under 40" in Forbes four years ago? Why did that article list her age as 35 at that point? And if that article is correct, why is she claiming she's 50 now?
Just bizarre.
