WATCH: Fetterman's Reaction to Gaetz' AG Withdrawal Is...Unique

As we reported earlier, former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) withdrew from consideration for the position of Attorney General, saying while he had support, he didn't want to be a distraction from the movement of President-elect Donald Trump's agenda.

I had excellent meetings with Senators yesterday.  I appreciate their thoughtful feedback - and the incredible support of so many.  While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition.  There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I'll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General.  Trump's DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1.

I remain fully committed to see that Donald J. Trump is the most successful President in history.  I will forever be honored that President Trump nominated me to lead the Department of Justice and I'm certain he will Save America.

I don't even have to look at any of the other reactions to the withdrawal to know that the one from Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) is going to be the most unique response. Fetterman had previously called Gaetz's nomination, "God-tier trolling."

Fetterman certainly didn't hold back when reporters asked him about the withdrawal. He let loose with a funny response which seemed to be an implicit chastisement of how the media/people on the left are flipping out over Trump appointments they don't like.

Warning for graphic language:

"Holy s***!" Fetterman exclaimed. "I didn't see that coming!"

"I mean, yes, he was the ultimate troll. And people have the opportunity, they can freak out over things and respond. And if you want to do that, you don't have to... you better pace yourself, though. 'cause it's not even Thanksgiving."

Fetterman said that they didn't have to react like "the world is going to spin off its axis, the way it is right now."

He then pulled his own troll, probably trying to see if any of the media would bite on it, saying he heard Trump was going to "issue a new silver dollar to commemorate that, so I think that's going to be the next [news] cycle."

No, he's not a conservative, and he still has liberal ideas.

But for someone who was questioned a lot when he came in, Fetterman's certainly more clear-headed than a lot of other Democrats. Sometimes he can see when the media/the left is being ridiculous and he isn't afraid to call them out. In the present Democratic climate of marching in lockstep off a cliff to all manner of silly ideas and that the American public just roundly rejected, that's unique.
