On Wednesday, Joe Biden went to Pittsburgh to meet with steel workers at the United Steelworkers headquarters. He had announced this week that he wants to triple tariffs on China.
But this was the very thing for which he had previously attacked former President Donald Trump.
Biden is announcing higher tariffs on Chinese steel today — something he OPPOSED when President Trump did it.

Here's Biden criticizing President Trump's tariffs in 2019: "It's really easy to be tough when someone else absorbs the pain." pic.twitter.com/ANstR6cM19
Now, he's essentially admitting Trump was right by his actions. Of course, he wants to do this now, probably to appeal to the union workers for their vote.
But when a reporter tried to ask him about the tariffs, she got a very weird non-sequitur from Biden. "On the new steel tariffs, are you concerned they'll hurt your relationship with Xi Jinping?" she asks.

BIDEN: "No."
REPORTER: "Why?"
BIDEN: "Don't jump!"

"No," he replied.
"Why?" she asked. Always a dangerous but good question to ask Biden.
"Don't jump," he said, an answer that made no sense.
The reporters tried again with him on the question of tariffs, as he was showing visible confusion about where he was supposed to stand. He had to ask staff for help. Then, the staff tried to rush the reporters out of the room.
BIDEN (confused): "Where do you want me?"

When he made his remarks to the steelworkers, there were also problems.
He claimed the steelworkers' union was the "first outfit" to endorse him when he ran for the Senate.
Biden tells the United Steelworkers they were the "first outfit ever to endorse" him during his race for U.S. Senate in 1972.

He said the same exact thing to the United Auto Workers. pic.twitter.com/h93CkES7vb
But that isn't what he said in February. He told the UAW that they were the first to endorse him.
The UAW was the first outfit to endorse me when I ran for U.S. Senate in 1972.

Here's the call last week when they told me I'd once again won the support of their hardworking union members. I won't forget it. pic.twitter.com/J0NbVDtUVK
But as we all know, he's all things to all people. He's also "Pittsburgh," Scranton, and Delaware.
BIDEN: "I'm Pittsburgh ... I really mean it!" pic.twitter.com/BxrYYEvWYY

Why is he "Pittsburgh," you might ask? It goes back to "my Scranton days." "My Grandfather Finnegan always talked about Pittsburgh," Biden said. Oh. Sure, that makes sense. Not.
There was another tell there, too. Every time he says "not a joke," "I really mean it," or "not hyperbole," gird your loins for another tall tale.
Then there was this garble of words about his mom.
BIDEN: "My mom didn't live in Scranton since she was 1954" pic.twitter.com/HSqsJt1HCu

"My mom didn't live in Scranton since she was 1954," he said. His mom was 1954? It's like his brain was dropping out words or jumbling them, and that's what came out. That makes me concerned — his issues have been bad, but they seem to be getting worse.
Then he seemed lost again, trying to get off the stage.

The whole trip was an ad for why not to vote for Joe Biden. It would have been better for his campaign to hide him in the basement. But here's the truth in all its harsh reality.
