Since the 90s, when Republicans last had a lead in voter identification, there had been a shift toward people identifying as Democrats until there were 5 percent more voters identifying as Democrats than Republicans in 2020. 

But now there appears to have been a shift back toward the right, according to a just-released Pew Research Center analysis comparing the numbers for the last twenty years until 2023. 

However, the Pew results from 2023 reveal a significant shift in party affiliation this cycle, reporting that 49% of voters identify as Democrat or leaning Democrat, while 48% identify as Republican or leaning Republican. 

Additionally, about 33% of respondents said they identify as being conservative or moderate in 2023, while the other side of the aisle only sees 23% identifying as liberal Democrats or leaning liberal. 

That means Democrats had been five points up and now it's almost even, and now more identifying as conservative than liberal as well. 

Recent polls have found that despite their advantage, Democratic support among minority voters is shrinking. A recent Gallup poll found that 19% of Black adults said they identify as lean Republican or Republican, while 66% identify as Democrat or lean Democrat, the "smallest Gallup has recorded in its polling, dating back to 1999."

Republicans have gained ground among Hispanic voters in recent years, tripling affiliation with their base in the demographic over the past two decades from 3% to 9%.

Rural voters also appear to be shifting towards the GOP, with the new poll showing the party holds a 25-point advantage over Democrats, 60% to 35%, after the parties were evenly split among voters in 2008.

The surveys were conducted with over 10,000 registered voters. 

Gee, I wonder what could have happened over those years to help shift people to the right? 

Looking at you, Joe Biden (and maybe also COVID tyranny). The quickest way to push people to the right is to see and live the bad experiences that the Democrats bring - including more state control, crushing inflation, and more involvement in foreign wars because of the bad policies that Biden has employed. 

Nothing is more convincing than going to fill your gas up and seeing the prices hiked yet again, or trying to juggle what you might have to pay for because of how much more groceries cost. Then on top of that, you have Biden and Democrats essentially telling you, "Oh, you just don't understand how wonderful the economy is," which is just the icing on the cake.

They are telling you how much they don't give a darn about you.
