We've seen all kinds of reactions to the death of OJ Simpson from cancer.
My colleague Sister Toldjah wrote about how bad the original NPR headline was, and Thursday seemed to be a day for bizarre takes from the media on his death. The NPR headline focused purely on his football career, thus leaving out what he's most known for — the trial and his acquittal over the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. My colleague Ben Kew reported on the bizarre take by CNN's Stephanie Elam.

But White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was caught off guard when she was asked about Joe Biden's reaction to the death of Simpson by a reporter.
"Was there any reaction to OJ Simpson's death?" The reporter asked. "Do you know if (he and Biden) ever crossed paths, and if so how? When?"

KJP seemed to go into automatic mode, pulling out a common response she makes when asked about deaths that, in this case, was bizarre.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre offered condolences Thursday following the death of OJ Simpson — but made no mention of the two people he was accused, and sensationally acquitted, of killing nearly three decades ago.
“Our thoughts are with his families [sic] during this difficult time — obviously with his family and loved ones,” Jean-Pierre said at her regular briefing.
“And I’ll say this, I know that they have asked for some privacy. And so we’re going to respect that. And I’ll just leave it there.”
Even given all the crazy things that the Biden team has said in the past, this was something else. Does she know who Simpson was? Or is she just speaking without knowing what she's saying, as usual? Given how they responded to it, one might assume the latter. But it is consistent with other weird media responses from them.
Let's finish with a statement from some of the people who deserve condolences: the family of Ron Goldman, who never got real accountability. Perhaps the White House will take note of this, but I doubt it.
