On Wednesday night, there was a violent riot by about 150 ceasefire protesters who tried to break into the DNC building in Washington, D.C., according to the police. The videos were wild, with activists battling officers. Authorities had to evacuate the building to get members of Congress who were inside at an event to safety.
As we noted, the police released a statement calling the activists' actions "illegal and violent." They also released a statement on Thursday saying that six officers had been injured in the battle from being hit or pepper sprayed and going further into details about the violence.
"We have handled hundreds of peaceful protests, but last night's group was not peaceful," U.S. Capitol Police said in a statement Thursday morning. "The crowd failed to obey our lawful orders to move back from the DNC, where Members of Congress were in the building."
"When the group moved dumpsters in front of the exits, pepper sprayed our officers and attempted to pick up the bike rack, our teams quickly introduced consequences -- pulling people off the building, pushing them back, and clearing them from the area, so we could safely evacuate the Members and staff," the police said.
Yet with all that action and the police saying it was decidedly not a peaceful protest but a violent one, only one person was arrested -- a man for slamming an officer into a garage door and punching a female officer in the face.
One of the people present was the head of the leftist group IfNotNow, Ewa Borgwardt. As I reported, she threw a bit of a performative tantrum talking about how those mean, evil police were responding to them.
On Thursday, she still wasn't done and tried to harangue Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) to call for a ceasefire. Now this is some annoying whining from Borgwardt. And what was funny was that the leftist Sherman wasn't having any of it. He yelled at her for accosting him.

Sherman said he was for a ceasefire -- if Hamas released the hostages and disarmed. But that wasn't enough for her, she wouldn't agree with him that Hamas needed to disarm. She claimed that Hamas was "empowered by siege and blockade," when in fact, the opposite would be true. She said they had to start with a ceasefire and then work to find a peaceful solution.
Sherman said disarm, but she protested breathlessly, "What is the strategy to do that?" Um, call for them to disarm? It's not very complicated. Don't empower them by thinking they're just going to get a ceasefire to re-arm -- make them give up the hostages and put down their weapons.
Why should anyone call a ceasefire when Hamas is still holding hostages and threatening to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth? They don't want peace, they want to kill Jews -- that's their aim.
Borgwardt then tried to place the blame on Israel and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This is some epic performance art here. Why can't you call on Israel to stop saying he's going to raze Gaza to the ground and stop killing 11,000 children, she cried. What nonsense. She then made sure where the cameras were and continued pitching that shtick.
But they can throw all kinds of fits. It isn't going to move the Israelis, and ultimately, it's their decision, not Biden or the Democrats.
White liberal woman. Activist. Prnouns in the bio. Defending Hamas, who'd have her oppressed with some old guy in an arranged marriage and have her cover up.
