Trump Lights It up and Lays out the Case to Cheering Audience in Bedminster

Former President Donald Trump has certainly had a busy day.

He was in Miami, Florida earlier in the day to plead not guilty to a 37-count indictment in the classified document case. As we noted, there were a lot of supporters out for him. A protester jumped out in front of his motorcade and found out that wasn’t a good idea. He also stopped at an iconic Cuban restaurant, was prayed over by patrons, and bought them food.

Then, on Tuesday night, he gave a speech from Trump National Golf Club, in Bedminster, N.J. Trump called the case a “political persecution,” like out of a Communist nation, and election interference. “But they will fail and we will win!’ Trump said. He ridiculed them charging him under the Espionage Act and threatening him with “400 years in prison” for possessing his own presidential papers. It has nothing to do with a former president keeping his own documents, Trump said, contending that they are applying the wrong law. The Presidential Records Act is a civil statute, there are no criminal consequences, he explained.

Trump said the precedent was the “Clinton socks case” referencing a case on presidential records — tapes that Bill Clinton kept in his sock drawer that even included Clinton’s discussions with world leaders about weighty issues. Not only wasn’t Clinton considered for prosecution, Trump said, the case determined that he had the right to his records. He said the case determined it was up to the president in his sole discretion.

He chastised the “corrupt” Biden administration’s decision that resulted in his being pursued. Whatever documents the president takes with him, he has the right to do it, Trump insisted. Yet, he had been doing all he could to cooperate with NARA anyway. He said that given the history of how presidential records have been dealt with in the past, no other president has been investigated over things like this, but they were going after him.

Trump said the boxes mostly had personal mementos. When they raided Mar-a-Lago, they took his medical records, even bringing in a safecracker to break into his safe, which he called an unreasonable search and seizure under the 4th Amendment.

Trump compared his situation to Biden’s classified document scandal. He pointed out how Biden had documents even from when he was a Senator — that even Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) couldn’t believe that. He went on to describe how Biden kept them in unsecured locations including at the Penn Biden Center and in his garage.

Trump spoke wryly about what a “wonderful birthday” this all was. His birthday is Wednesday, Jun. 14.

He also compared his case to that of Hillary Clinton’s private server, noting some of her emails were even found on Anthony Weiner’s computer. He noted how she deleted emails and her team destroyed phones, yet no one went after her, and James Comey said, “No reasonable prosecutor would bring a case.”

He even brought up the Sandy Berger classified document case, and he got nothing really for stuffing documents in his pants and socks.

Trump even noted that they violated his “attorney-client privilege” and how the FBI improperly leaked information in his case.

But he cheered on his supporters and he thanked his family for all their support, “I love you all and we can take it. What these thugs have done to my family is a disgrace.” He praised his family for what they had to go through. He spoke about how hard it was to go home after things like the Steele Dossier made claims about his sexual habits.

Trump said it was “no coincidence” that the indictment came down the same day the news broke about Joe Biden allegedly getting a “$5 million bribe from Ukraine.” He said the media barely covered that, while incessantly covering his indictment. He spoke about the new information regarding the 17 tapes that Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) discussed on the Senate floor on Monday, including those that had Joe talking about the scheme with the Burisma executive. He noted ironically how he was impeached for simply asking about Biden’s corruption, yet once again, “they see I was right.”

He thanked the people in Miami for their love, observing that many were those who saw this happen in the Communist countries they fled. He also pledged to “obliterate” the deep state.

He urged the Republicans to get tough, saying it wasn’t only about him, that there was a problem when they can arrest the leading political opponent and now they will go after everyone. “They want to take away my freedom because I will never let them take away your freedom,” Trump said.

But on Nov. 5, he said we will put an end to all the corruption and make America great again.
