The contradictions from Joe Biden and his team about China are beginning to pile up and endanger our national security.

We’re in a very bad position when we can’t trust the people we have in office running the country. Unfortunately, we can’t because the official line seems to continually evolve — even about things that pose a threat to our nation.

On Thursday, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell asked National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby about a report that China and Cuba had entered into an agreement for China to set up an “electronic facility [translation: spy facility]” on the island.

KIRBY: "It's not accurate."

MSNBC: “China and Cuba have now reached a secret agreement…for China to establish an electronic facility…to scoop up electronic communications throughout the southeastern U.S.”

KIRBY: “It’s not accurate.”

MSNBC: “You’re saying it’s not accurate that they’re planning this?”

KIRBY: “We’ve seen the report. It’s not accurate.”

Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernández de Cossío also denied the report, “The slanderous speculation continues, evidently promoted by certain media to cause harm and alarm without observing minimum patterns of communication and without providing data or evidence to support what they disseminate.”

So what Kirby said was right in line with Cuban propaganda.

Turns out that what Kirby said was not the case. Now the White House is admitting that not only is there a Chinese spy base in Cuba just 90 miles away from us, but they’re also now claiming it’s been “ongoing” and predates Biden’s term in office — that it’s been there since 2019. So they flipped from “it’s not true” to “we knew about it, but it didn’t start under us.”

The White House claims now that they were briefed on it when Joe Biden took office.

The Wall Street Journal said that the electronic eavesdropping facility on the island would allow Chinese intelligence services to “scoop up electronic communications throughout the southeastern U.S., where many military bases are located, and monitor U.S. ship traffic.”

The administration tried to claim it wasn’t their fault.

“This effort included the presence of PRC intelligence collection facilities in Cuba,” the official said. “In fact, the PRC conducted an upgrade of its intelligence collection facilities in Cuba in 2019. This is well-documented in the intelligence record.”

The statement also appeared to criticize the Trump administration for its handling of China’s efforts in Cuba.

“This is an issue that this Administration inherited. It was our assessment that, despite awareness of the basing efforts and some attempts to address this challenge in the past Administration, we were not making enough progress and needed a more direct approach,” the official said.

So if they knew about it, why did Kirby insist the report wasn’t accurate? With the Biden team, who knows?

Biden’s response to the Chinese spy balloon was awful — letting it fly across the country and spy on sensitive military installations, and possibly send intel back to China, before finally getting around to shooting it down. Yet, then Kirby dared to say last week that they weren’t conducting any investigation into the balloon. There’s also a Chinese spy threat near sensitive military installations in Alaska as well.

Not only don’t they appear to be taking any of these dangerous threats seriously, but they also can’t even get basic things right, like not sending people to China on the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, as though they’re dismissing the importance of that. That gave China a huge “coup” and the belief again that they would not be held accountable.

The bottom line is that they seem to have a terrible response to anything having to do with China, which keeps us going back to that question of whether or not Joe Biden is compromised.
