House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) finally booted Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) from the House Intelligence Committee. He lit into them during questioning from reporters. He laid out lies that Schiff had told when he decimated why he shouldn’t be on the Intel Committee, lying about the Nunes memo, the Hunter Biden laptop, claiming he didn’t know the impeachment whistleblower when his staff had met with him. He pointed out how Schiff doesn’t have a right to sit on the Intel Committee because it went to the “national security of America.”

In terms of Swalwell, McCarthy pointed out how the FBI came to him and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to tell them their concerns about Swalwell’s relationship with the Chinese spy.
McCarthy said that they could serve on other committees, but not that one. “They will not serve,” McCarthy said. “Because integrity matters to me.”
The issues with both Swalwell and Schiff have been known and long-standing. I reported earlier about how the pair was whining about being kicked off. The Twittersphere was also letting them have it.
But now they’ve held a presser, misleading the American people and showing just why they should never be on the Intel Committee.
Talk about projection when Schiff accuses McCarthy of making the Intel Committee a “political plaything.” That’s what Schiff did and what McCarthy is trying to get away from.
.@RepAdamSchiff: "This decision by Kevin McCarthy to bow to the demands of the most extreme elements of his conference and use the Intelligence Committee as his kind of political play doesn't show the strength of his speakership, indeed it shows the weakness of his speakership." pic.twitter.com/xbXF57w5gh

He grouses that McCarthy shouldn’t get to decide all for himself who should be on the Committee. But isn’t that just what former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) did with the Jan. 6 Committee, without the same cause that McCarthy has to boot Schiff and Swalwell? He claims that McCarthy’s actions and having a “Weaponization Committee” would cause the intelligence community to distrust the Committee. No, McCarthy’s actions will cause the American people to have more faith in the fairness of the process, and that’s who the representatives are supposed to be serving, not the intelligence community. If the intelligence community is disturbed about the Committee now being honest, then that’s a problem with the intelligence community that needs to be dealt with. You can see how worried Schiff is that this is going to upend the Democrats’ hold on power.
Listen as Schiff can’t even control himself and is lying now about McCarthy’s very clear reasons. Schiff claims it has to do with the ridiculous Democratic impeachment of Trump, where Trump was acquitted. But if you listened to Schiff’s misleading here, you might think Trump was convicted, as he claims they “proved those facts” when indeed, they did not.
“The cardinal sin appears to be that I led the impeachment of [Kevin McCarthy’s] master in Mar-a-Lago.”

This is exactly why he should have gotten the boot, long ago.
This was perhaps one of the funniest comments of the presser when Schiff talks about Rep. George Santos (R-NY). Imagine Schiff calling anyone else a “serial fabricator.”

Plus, Santos isn’t on the Intel Committee.
Swalwell acted similarly.

First, he tried to blame McCarthy for “shattering” what had always been a bipartisan committee. But it was the Democrats that did that first, with the Jan. 6 Committee, making it a purely political Committee in their effort to try to smear the Republicans and Trump. So holding Schiff and Swalwell to account for their actions isn’t being partisan, it’s bringing the Intel Committee back to what it should be as opposed to tainting it and not being able to trust what was said when Schiff was chair.
Then Swalwell tried to blame McCarthy for getting death threats. That’s ridiculous — many politicians get death threats, and McCarthy isn’t encouraging that. “There’s an intent behind it,” Swalwell falsely claims. But that shows how they can’t even support their position without throwing out ridiculous smears like this. McCarthy isn’t calling for any death threats. I’m sure he gets some as well, but he isn’t whining like a baby and trying to stoke more anger like Swalwell and Schiff are. Swalwell is not the victim here.
The American people deserve people they can trust on this most important Committee and these two are not those people.
