There was a famous video that went viral last year showing two little boys running toward each other and then hugging. One was black, the other white.
Pro-Trump meme-maker Carpe Donktum, whose real name is Logan Cook, created a funny meme out of it, simulating a CNN news story with a chyron that read, “Terrified Todler [sic] Runs From Racist Baby,” then “Racist Baby Probably A Trump Voter,” then, “What actually happened.” The toddlers run at each other and embrace. Fade to black. Then next came, “AMERICA IS NOT THE PROBLEM….FAKE NEWS IS. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING. ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT FAKE NEWS DUMPSTER FIRES.”

The point was to be a sarcastic take on how CNN makes everything racist and delivers fake news.
President Donald Trump tweeted the meme video version and that drew a lot of attention to it.
That prompted a suit against both Cook and Trump accusing them of misappropriating the video. Twitter also labeled it “manipulated media.” Both Facebook and Twitter removed the video, and Cook got booted off of Twitter for “copyright violations.”
Now it goes without saying it was a frivolous lawsuit, especially against Trump for simply retweeting a parody video.
Fortunately, the case was dismissed today against Cook and Trump, Cook’s lawyer, Ron Coleman announced.

Cook issued a statement on his win, asking Twitter when he would be getting his account back, acknowledging they would never give it back to him.

It’s a big win, but it’s a case that should never have been brought to begin with. And it’s more evidence of the bias on Twitter against conservatives for booting Cook from the site over this, given all the other parodies/memes and other such things on Twitter. Why was he the one to get the boot for this? Because he was popular and pro-Trump so that couldn’t be allowed. All kinds of noxious stuff is permitted from folks on the left and this is what gets Twitter’s nose in a snit? Crazy.
But at least this win proves there’s still some legal and common sense left in the courts.
Donktum and Trump win, Michael Avenatti cries and gets time. It’s been a good week.
