Democrats like to claim they’re all about “the science” when it comes to the Wuhan coronavirus.

But as we’ve seen again and again how untrue that really is and what they are really all about is their own power, and whatever helps them retain that.

The CDC recently announced that schools could reduce their social distancing spacing to 3 feet from 6, thus enabling more schools to reopen. The studies indicated there was no real difference between three and six. One would think that would be great news and be embraced.

Not so much by the American Federation of Teacher’s head Randi Weingarten who said that she’s “not convinced” by the science that the CDC was presenting to her.

From CBS:

“We are not convinced that the evidence supports changing physical distancing requirements at this time,” Weingarten wrote. “Our concern is that the cited studies do not identify the baseline mitigation strategies needed to support 3 feet of physical distancing.”

Weingarten also questioned the scientific foundation of the social distancing studies: “[T]hey were not conducted in our nation’s highest-density and least-resourced schools, which have poor ventilation, crowding and other structural challenges.”

Weingarten said that if they were going to “weaken” the protocols, they needed to strengthen other areas and “at a minimum” they wanted:

Universal and correct masking
Effective ventilation
Thorough cleaning of buildings
Regular COVID-19 testing of teachers, staff, and students
Effective contact tracing and quarantine/isolation protocols
Making vaccines available to all eligible people in schools

So much for paying attention to “science.” Basically it sounds like she’s saying they’re not going back until you can guarantee no possibility at all of getting it, which is impossible to guarantee.

Translation: they want to drag this out as long as they possibly can to get more teachers, more space and more agenda items before they open schools, however long that takes, however that hurts kids, regardless of what the CDC is saying.

Most schools are open in some capacity across the country, they didn’t wait for the AFT or Biden, and they’ve been operating without any problems.

People really let her have it for this stall tactic.

So incredibly bizarre that unions have taken the position of overriding the CDC on disease transmission expertise, especially given that we’ve prioritized vaccinating teachers! Why have we put teachers towards the front of the line if not to re-open schools?

Oh, you want to follow the science? How about following the science that the risks of keeping school closed far outweigh the risks of keeping them open. How about following the science that screens place kids at risk for isolation, depression, and improper brain development?
