As we reported earlier, Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser was up in arms about having the National Guard in Washington, D.C. from other states, despite the fact that she herself had asked for the help of the Guard to control things in D.C.

Now she’s saying she only wanted them to help with traffic and she doesn’t want Guard from out of state in the city.

Quite frankly, she seems more upset about the National Guard than the riots and violence that have plagued her city and that have left many police and law enforcement members injured.

The Guard has helped to restore a semblance of order in the city after a few days of rioting, as a picture from CNN’s Jim Acosta so helpfully shows.

But instead of thanking them for their effort, she just had them booted out of their hotel. About 200 members of the Utah National Guard were staying at the Mariott. Out of state members from 10 different states are staying in hotels. Lee said Bowser intended to kick them all out.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) was furious.

“Evicting Utah National Guard personnel from their hotels after a late-night shift risking their lives to protect Washington is a shameful, petty, discrediting decision by Mayor Bowser,” he said in a statement.

“Our Utah guardsmen are consummate professionals who are not complaining in the slightest. But their labor and sacrifice on behalf of Washingtonians deserves better than this embarrassing spectacle. If Mayor Bowser has a problem with President Trump she should take it up with him, not take it out on National Guard personnel in the middle of a dangerous deployment in her city,” Sen. Lee continued.

Lee, in an earlier remark, praised the Guard from his state, saying they had helped restore order to the city.

The Utah Guard had until noon Eastern Time to depart their hotel and lodging and other accommodations were “still up in the air for this evening,” said Lee’s spokesman Conn Carroll.

Carroll said the issue has nothing to do with the Constitution’s 3rd Amendment — which prohibits forcing a homeowner to quarter troops without the owner’s consent — but a political move by Bowser.

“This is a political choice by the mayor’s office to cancel a contract for lodging between D.C. and the Guard,” Carroll said.

What a disgraceful act. If her concern was about money, she could have, as Lee said, taken it up with the federal government. She didn’t have to treat the Guard like dirt who were doing nothing but helping out her citizens.

Meanwhile, while she’s treating the Guard who helped protect her city like villains, she’s had “Black Lives Matter” painted on the street near the White House and renamed the street. If she’s saying that black lives matter, we agree and she should show that by protecting her citizens and honoring the effort of the Guard to do that.

But if she’s honoring the group that has been involved in chaos, wants to defund the police, eliminate prisons and radically transform society to the far left, we disagree. What’s funny about it all, Black Lives Matter — the group — called her out for posturing because it’s never enough unless they get what they want.
