Donald Trump triumphalism is running strong since the 2016 elections, but it looks like Michigan is having second thoughts about switching sides.
It doesn’t matter whether the Republicans nominate Sandy Pensler or John James for Senate, because the new polling shows that Michigan isn’t inclined to elect either of them to replace Democrat Debbie Stabenow.
Glengariff Group polled the state for WDIV-TV and The Detroit News, and the numbers are horrible for Republicans: Stabenow leads each Republican candidates by 19, coming in on top at 51-30 against each of them.
It’s early, but it appears that voters aren’t really looking to take out the incumbent here. They are happy with her votes in opposition to the President. Having second thoughts about 2016? Perhaps.
