So, if the story’s from the Washington Post, then why am I picking Talking Points Memo as the go-to link for this story?

Federal health officials went ahead with the Oct. 1 launch of Obamacare’s online health insurance marketplace despite a failed test days before, the Washington Post reported Monday.

Government officials and contractors ran a test to see whether the web portal could handle traffic from tens of thousands of users simultaneously, and the site crashed after a simulation in which only a few hundred tried to log on at the same time, according to the Post.

Because I am not yet a Buddha. Particularly since the comments section is promising to be remarkably bitter about the whole thing, too. Mind you, if I was faced with a story like the above – reportedly, the site went pear-shaped on October 1st under the titanic onslaught of 2,000 users applying at once – I’d be bitter, too. I’d stew in silence over it (the Internet is for agitprop, not free therapy*), but I’d be bitter.

PS: I particularly enjoyed the bad math in the aforementioned comments section. Please, by all means: use New York’s awful state exchange performance to claim that 2 million have signed up for Obamacare nationwide. That will solve the problem, ya, you betcha.

*People ask me sometimes – inexplicably, but I guess that it’s because I’m there and I like to talk – about how to do what I do. It’s smarter to ask about I don’t do.
