OK I'm confused.
I thought President Donald Trump was "Hitler," a "fascist," and other scary authoritarian stuff?
Turns out a UCLA professor — I know; try to control your shock and amazement — says his "only hope" is "violent resistance by our military" to oust America's democratically-elected 47th president.
That's right —Peter Arenella, a professor of criminal law at the University of California, Los Angeles, urged the U.S. military to take action against President Donald Trump — as the only way out of what he delusionally believes to be an imminent alliance between Trump's U.S.and Vladimir Putin's Russia.
In a post to X (formerly Twitter), Arenella wrote:
At this point, my only hope for the US to avoid becoming an ally to Russia is a violent resistance by our military. Tragic to say that because the military are trained to avoid any politically motivated intervention.
Yeah, it's not only "tragic to say that," it's also tragic that this guy is Coo Coo for Cocoa Puffs.
Arenella further wrote:
Remember that our military has sworn an oath to protect the very Constitution that Trump and his criminal enablers are tearing down. Will some courageous military heroes engage in a counter coup?
Arenella then got even more delusional, suggesting that Trump fired the "military chiefs" in his first weeks in office and replaced them with his own loyalists because he already anticipated the possibility of a coup.
Trump anticipated that possibility and acted swiftly to minimize that type of intervention. Ultimately, we will get what we deserve by giving Trump a second chance to destroy our democracy.
Blah, blah, blah, yada yada yada.
Democrats insisted before Trump decisively won the 2024 presidential election — and many continue to do so —that he would do everything from "suspend elections" and declare himself president-for-life to install an oligarchy and toss his "enemies" into "concentration camps." Far as I know, zero of that has happened.
Just One Problem for the Nutty Professor
Arenella's incendiary posts — clearly calling for violence against the President of the United States — triggered a bevy of reactions from other X users, many of whom called on UCLA to take disciplinary action against Arenella, correctly claiming that he was inciting violence with his posts.
Then, it got even worse for Arenella. Here's more:
Some X users tagged the FBI, Secret Service and military chiefs to review Mr Arenella’s posts for action. Other netizens asked the Trump-led administration to axe all federal funding to UCLA as was done to Columbia University last Friday.
“I hope Trump stops federal funding to UCLA, you piece of s***,” tweeted @tajh86
“I know our profession is completely f***** in regards to many of its leaders, but in a just world, you’d be disbarred, fired, and kicked out of public life,” tweeted another user.
“You’re advocating a military coup and claim Trump is the threat to democracy? You’re a special kind of stupid,” tweeted @JoshWeber2
As a Law professor, I bet you have a pretty good idea about how much FEDERAL time you’re looking at now that dozens of folks on x just reported you to the FBI,” tweeted @brianmatthews.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes? You bet.
As reported by Just the News on Monday, Arenella — no doubt under heavy pressure, is now apologizing for suggesting military action against Trump.
After facing backlash on X, including from one person who allegedly sent Arenella's X posts to FBI Director Kash Patel, Arenella apologized Sunday, saying he doesn't think a military coup is a good idea and regrets "that post."
Military intervention could well trigger a civil war causing great harm to people on both sides of our current divided political culture. I regret that post and agree with Trump loyalists that it was not an appropriate response. Mea Culpa. Peter.
Nonsense. The only thing Arenella is sorry about is that he got caught and called out — and likely was afraid he'd be fired. Then again, I'll go out on a limb and bet UCLA would do no such thing.
President Trump's speech to a joint session of Congress has radical Democrats in panic mode, and their childish protests won't stop all of the winning.
