Regardless of one’s position on Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz — I was a Cruzer in 2016, which led to lots of fun attacks from “some” — the wily Texan is a Twitter virtuoso and many of his responses to personal attacks are not only deadly; they’re also hilarious. Simply put, Ted loves every minute of it.
Our story begins with Cruz accusing Joe Biden of behaving like a “terrorist” because he won’t negotiate with Kevin McCarthy over the debt ceiling during an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, on Sunday.
You know who didn’t engage in this kind of irresponsible fearmongering? Barack Obama the president; he sent Joe in, and said ‘Let’s reach a deal.’ That Joe Biden from 2011 needs to come back — not the guy they got right now locked in the basement, an a White House that’s being run by 25-year-old radicals …
These are little Marxists with no experience in the real world. We need to bring back the Joe Biden whose done this before — not the one who is behaving like a terrorist, which is what Biden is doing right now.
Ouch — and dead on.

So while left-“leaning” Rolling Stone surprisingly reported the story as pretty much straight-up news, the headline suggested Cruz “maligned” Biden during his segment on Fox News.
Cruz also attacked White House staffers, calling them "little Marxists with no experience in the real world." https://t.co/wfg22i0Cg7

Cruz refused to take the bait and be drawn into a debate with the loons at Rolling Stone, responding with just one word — no doubt just to show Rolling Stoners he saw the tweet. In my book, a perfect troll.
true.
And lower-case “t,” at that. You know, little effort.

This is a perfect example of a situation where less is best.
As my colleague Joe Cunningham reported on Tuesday, Biden has now extended an invitation to McCarthy for a meeting at the White House, presumably to discuss the debt ceiling impasse. One of two things could be going on, here — as even centrist Democrats push Biden to negotiate with McCarthy.
One, Biden could be caving, at least willing to talk about moving away from his previously rigid refusal to negotiate. Two: Biden and the White House could simply be posturing for public consumption, with zero intention of negotiating anything but instead disingenuously positioning the clueless Biden to claim: “Hey, Jack — I tried. No joke.”
If wiser heads in the White House prevail — assuming there are wiser heads in Biden’s Nut House — the president would be better off taking a deal. Moreover, McCarthy would then be skewered by many in the GOP for “caving” to Biden. Bottom line: I don’t see a downside for Biden if settles for less than his $6.9 trillion budget (busting) proposal.
The meeting is set for next Tuesday with McCarthy reportedly having accepted Biden’s invitation, which was extended to all four congressional leaders – McCarthy, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Man, to be a fly on one of the walls in that room.
Meanwhile, Texas Ted — formerly “Lyin’ Ted” to Donald Trump — will continue to tell it like it, and he doesn’t give a damn who likes what he has to say — or not. How can you not love that?
