As delusional Joe Biden, the most divisive president in modern history, continues to lie about Donald Trump and nearly half of America, equally TDS-riddled House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Jan. 6 Committee trudges ahead — changing zero minds on either side of the equation.

Now, as reported by The New York Times, the so-called “select” committee sent a letter to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, calling on the Georgia Republican to voluntarily sit for an interview about his involvement in Donald Trump’s alleged effort to overturn the 2020 election. Committee members assert that Gingrich deliberately incited anger among voters with false claims of election fraud.

According to The Times, the committee said its investigators had obtained evidence that Gingrich was in contact with senior Trump advisors about TV ads that “amplified false claims of fraud in the election and other aspects of the scheme to block the transfer of power, both before and after a mob attacked the Capitol.”

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), chairman of the committee, wrote in a letter to Gingrich:

Some of the information we have obtained includes email messages that you exchanged with senior advisers to President Trump and others, including Jared Kushner and Jason Miller, in which you provided detailed input into television advertisements that repeated and relied upon false claims about fraud in the 2020 election,

These advertising efforts were not designed to encourage voting for a particular candidate. Instead, these efforts attempted to cast doubt on the outcome of the election after voting had already taken place. They encouraged members of the public to contact their state officials and pressure them to challenge and overturn the results of the election.

The letter to Mr. Gingrich asked that he preserve all records and communications he had with the White House, Mr. Trump, the Trump legal team and others involved in the events of Jan. 6. It requested that he sit for an interview during the week of Sept. 19.

Mr. Thompson said Mr. Gingrich pushed messages explicitly designed to incite anger among voters, even after Georgia election officials had faced intimidation and threats of violence. In particular, Mr. Gingrich advocated promoting the false claims that election workers in Atlanta had smuggled in fake votes in suitcases.

Thompson not only included specifics in his letter to Gingrich; he quoted the former Speaker, as well.

“The goal is to arouse the country’s anger through new verifiable information the American people have never seen before,” Mr. Gingrich wrote to Mr. Kushner, Mr. Miller, and Larry Weitzner, a media consultant, on Dec. 8, 2020. “If we inform the American people in a way they find convincing and it arouses their anger, they will then bring pressure on legislators and governors.”

The single qualifier in the alleged Gingrich quotes was verifiable information. We have seen, and continue to see, what one side views as verifiable information by some is summarily dismissed out of hand by the other. In the case of all things Donald Trump, that reality will forever be the case. That said, I see zero in Gingrich’s comments that suggest he tried to pressure governors or state legislators to do anything remotely illegal.

As my colleague Brandon Morse reported in January, Fani Willis, the district attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, requested the formation of a grand jury to assist in an investigation into Trump’s phone call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, allegedly asking him to find the votes necessary to defeat Joe Biden in the state during the 2020 elections. Willis claimed Trump committed multiple crimes during the call, including conspiracy and racketeering, and solicitation to commit election fraud.

Trump, of course, denied any wrongdoing.

As for Gingrich’s involvement — or lack thereof — Thompson wrote in the letter: “Surprisingly, the attack on Congress and the activities prescribed by the Constitution did not even pause your relentless pursuit.” Gingrich did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Times, which noted that the letter comes as investigations into the attack on the Capitol “have intensified.”

And so it continues. “Witch hunt,” as Trump and his loyalists steadfastly claim, or legitimate investigation, with reason to investigate, as Democrats and their lapdog media sock puppets continue to claim, one thing is certain: The party of Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi remains terrified of Donald Trump and will continue until the proverbial cows come home, which in this case is after the 2024 presidential election.
