In this episode of “The Never-Ending Biden Border Crisis”…

According to a source within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Border Patrol agents have already apprehended more than one million illegal aliens in the southwest sectors in Fiscal Year 2022. The benchmark was reportedly reached on Thursday, the source told Breitbart News. Shocked? Me, neither. (Emphasis, mine):

The source says nearly 8,000 migrants were apprehended on Wednesday, breaking the single-day record for migrant encounters at the southwest border. Nearly 7 of 10 migrants apprehended since October 1 are single adults, according to the source.

The source says limited removal pathways are contributing to overcrowding at Border Patrol processing facilities.

On multiple occasions last week, the source says the agency encountered large migrant groups numbering more than 200 in size. On Sunday, one single group of 187 crossed the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass and quickly surrendered.

Were they wearing “Biden, Please Let Us In!” T-shirts? Anyway, assuming that’s the “good news,” the bad news is, so what? What happened to those more than one million illegals — and others before them? And what will happen moving forward? We’ll get there in a minute.

No one who pays any amount of attention to the continuing Biden Border Crisis™ should be surprised in the least by the above numbers. As RedState reported in late March, Border Patrol chief Raul Ortiz told CNN his agency is ramping up to apprehend as many as 8,000 illegals daily — more than double the daily number of the 2019 surge under the Trump administration. While Border Patrol at times has apprehended 8,000 illegals daily, the number has never been the norm. Until now.

CNN “New Day” co-anchor Briana Keilar reacted to the numbers in typical form: “That’s a huge number!” Yes, Brianna, it is a huge number. Now, go back to spinning the hell out of the border crisis.

So, then what? What happens after the apprehensions?

The source says limited removal options are causing large amounts of released migrants. The only significant tool is the Trump era emergency Title 42 COVID-19 CDC order, which could quickly expel applicable migrants from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador with minimal administrative processing.

“Shockingly,” as reported by Fox News, the Biden administration on Friday announced it will be terminating the Title 42 public health policy at the end of May — despite continuing warnings of massive illegal border crossings in the coming months. The policy has been used by both the Trump and Biden administrations to quickly expel illegal immigrants since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak. How convenient to now dump it.

Another growing problem is the number of “migrants” from Cuba. In February, roughly 16,550 Cubans were apprehended along the southwest border — a spike of more than 300 percent, compared to February 2021. Moreover, fewer than 100 of the 16,550 Cubans arrested in February were ordered out of the country, per the Remain in Mexico program.

As those interested in such things — that should be all of us — might recall, Biden formally ended the Remain in Mexico program in June 2021, after suspending it earlier in the year. Under court order, the administration reimposed the program in January 2022, with “new protocols.”

As reported by The Washington Post in February 2022, the Biden version of “Remain in Mexico” bears little resemblance to the Trump version.

The biggest difference under Biden has been the scale of returns. His administration was ordered to restore MPP “in good faith,” but the court did not set quotas.

So far the Department of Homeland Security has sent back about 410 MPP enrollees, according to the latest U.N. figures, equivalent to about seven asylum seekers per day border-wide, compared with 300 to 400 returned daily in summer 2019.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), whose lawsuit forced Biden to restart MPP, called the low numbers “outrageous” in a late-January tweet.

It not only still stands; it’s literally getting worse by the day and is going to continue to do so.

Let’s be frank. The fix has been in since before Day One of the Biden administration. Biden ran on it. Other than handing voter ID cards — no pictures, of course — to illegals as they continue to stream across the border, there’s not a whole lot more the White House could do, as it continues its efforts to permanently change the demographics of America.

As reported by the Center for Immigration Studies in July 2021 — just six months into the Biden presidency — there was a huge decline in the percentage of illegals ordered deported in Fiscal Year 2021. In FY 2019, by comparison, 72.2 percent of outcomes were removal orders, whereas the percentage of outcomes in which the alien was allowed to stay was a mere 27.8 percent. None of this should come as a surprise to anyone who has followed the Biden administration’s implementation of its anti-enforcement crusade.

That was then, this is now.

As we reported in late January, illegal border crossings in 2022 are well on track to smash all-time records.
