Since #FakeNews is all the rage this week, it seems appropriate that Slate would make the leap to rock bottom.  Earlier this week, Slate tweeted out a request for information on Donald Trump.

This was a rumor that was circulating in conservative circles, yet nothing before the election. Now it just feels like another desperate attempt by the very liberal Slate to try and undermine the results. Without confirmation or even a real accusation, they’re just going with a rumor.

Of course it would news if a woman came forward to share her story, but that’s not what is happening. Slate wants to generate the story and fill in the gaps later. What does this accomplish?
