But Natalie Winters over at the National Pulse dug a bit deeper into something else tucked away in that enormous EO which is in some ways a heck of a lot more disturbing.

You see, Biden also suspended an EO previously issued by President Trump for 90 days and, in the interim, ordered that:

The Secretary of Energy and the Director of OMB shall jointly consider whether to recommend that a replacement order be issued.

If you suspect that President Trump must have had a damned good reason for doing anything that Joe Biden felt the need to immediately undo, congratulations, you’ve acquired the brutally cynical outlook appropriate for the next four years and probably won’t find anything ahead too shocking.

Trump signed the now-suspended EO 13920 on May 1, 2020, to protect the U.S. power grid from sabotage by our foreign enemies by blocking them from being able to provide any crucial components.

As such, it prohibited the “acquisition, importation, transfer, or installation of any bulk- power system electric equipment” when any of the following perilous conditions obtain:

• The transaction “poses an undue risk of sabotage to or subversion of the design, integrity, manufacturing, production, distribution, installation, operation, or maintenance of the bulk-power system in the United States.”
• It “poses an undue risk of catastrophic effects on the security or resiliency of United States critical infrastructure or the economy of the United States.”
• It “otherwise poses an unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States or the security and safety of United States persons.”

But it gets even worse. Trump invested the power to determine who exactly shouldn’t be allowed to provide crucial components for our nation’s power grid to the Secretary of Energy.

And take a wild guess which foreign adversary Trump’s Energy Secretary, Dan Brouillette wisely used his newfound power to stop from having the ability to sabotage our energy grid.

Why the Chicoms, of course. Who else?

On December 17, Secretary Brouillette invoked “the authority delegated to [him] by Executive Order 13920” to “reduce the risks that entities associated with the People’s Republic of China pose to the Nation’s bulk-power system.”

As such, he prohibited,

…utilities that supply critical defense facilities (CDF) from procuring from the People’s Republic of China, specific BPS electric equipment that poses an undue risk to the BPS, the security or resilience of critical infrastructure, the economy, national security, or safety and security of Americans.

As Secretary Brouillette explained:

The bulk-power system is the backbone of our Nation’s energy infrastructure and is fundamental to our national security, the American economy, and our way of life,” said Secretary Brouillette. “It is imperative we secure the BPS against attacks and exploitation by foreign adversaries. This order is one of several steps this Administration is taking to greatly diminish the ability of our foreign adversaries to target our critical electric infrastructure.” President Trump issued EO 13920 on May 1, 2020, and granted implementation authority to the Secretary of Energy.

Well, you and I may agree with Trump’s Secretary of Energy here, but apparently Joe Biden or whoever’s pulling his strings demurs.

Think about that for a second. One of Joe Biden’s first acts in office was to cancel an EO that Trump’s administration used to stop China from being able to sabotage our power grid.

As RedState managing editor Streiff reported on Friday, this is by no means the first kowtowing to Beijing Biden’s done in his first week in office. He even managed a twofer—simultaneously bowing down to both Putin and Xi Jinping by proposing to extend a treaty with Russia from which President Trump wisely withdrew that:

…maintains a verification regime that the Russians will surely evade, and the fiction that Russia is a peer competitor of the US and not merely a Third World failed state that happens to have a 30+ nuclear weapons stockpile that is not particularly well maintained (shocker, right?).

As Streiff noted, China was pretty darned pleased:

And as my pseudonymous colleague, Shipwreckedcrew noted in the first piece linked to above:

Canceling the [Keystone pipeline] project is likely to lead to one very significant negative national security problem — the very real likelihood that Canada will bring in a Chinese partner to build a pipeline and shipping terminal on the Pacific Coastline in British Columbia, and then move the oil by tanker to refinery facilities in Asia.

Given how long some of those EOs Biden or whoever’s pulling his strings was in such a rush to get signed were, it may be a while before we fully understand all the damage to America he managed to cause in just one day.

Dark times ahead ladies and gentlemen. But they’ll only be that much darker and, ultimately, harder to remedy if we put our heads in the sand and ignore all the bad tidings indicating our most dangerous foreign adversary, Xi Jinping, just placed his man in our White House.
