Senate Candidate for Virginia Hung Cao knows the magnitude of the gift his family was given when they were allowed to immigrate from Vietnam to the United States. In an inspiring speech at the RNC Tuesday evening, Cao tells of how America saved his life.
"We escaped from Vietnam days before Saigon fell to the communists. We were given a new life in the most generous country on earth. My name is Hung Cao, and America saved my life."
Cao's speech reminded us of the beauty of the American dream and that no country in the world is like our own. He shows us immigration done right — a treasured piece of American history and heritage that has gotten lost in the reckless stewardship of poor leaders.
"I grabbed onto the American dream. I graduated from the United States Naval Academy. I paid back every dime of that American dream with 25 years of service in Navy special operations."
If Cao is the exemplar of an American immigrant, the counterexample is the pro-Hamas crowd that flooded our streets, burned our flag, vandalized our national monuments, and called for the destruction of our country.
It's July 4th, and Americans Are Burning Our Flag—Why Are These People Even Here?
Why have we settled for this when we have the Hung Caos of the world who would come here and cherish our country, even offering up their own life for it if need be?
This is the American dream. https://t.co/quKnqDu8s5

Immigrants like Cao understand where they come from. They don't come up with foolish terms like "Queers for Palestine." (Which is about as sensical as chickens for KFC.)
Cao expressed his disgust for this group and issued a solemn warning:
"We are losing our country. Under Joe Biden, millions of illegal aliens flood our borders. They fly Hamas flags on our campuses, and they shout 'Death to America.' As an immigrant to this great country, let me be very clear to everyone who comes here: Don't ask for the American dream if you are not willing to obey the American laws and embrace the American culture."
The crowd erupted with chants of "USA! USA! USA!" Cao then made another closing statement that sums up the heart of a patriot:
"I love this country so much that I wrote a blank check up to and including my life."
This should be the standard set for anyone who wishes to come to make their home in our country. We are the greatest nation in the world, and we have the right to choose who comes into our country and when. When we allow people who do not share our values to take root here, it's a disrespect to those who have come before us and a danger to the future of those who will come after. Hung Cao is an example of a worthy recipient of the refuge our nation offers to people from all over the world and from all walks of life. Not everyone who is worthy will be able to come. That's a tragic part of life. But we can protect what we have, choose wisely who we allow, and shine a light for the rest of the world to follow.
