It's no secret that there is division in America, with individuals tuning each other out if they have a different political viewpoint or vision for the country's future. However, in a recently leaked call between former President and current GOP nominee for President Donald Trump and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (I), they displayed something that is missing in today's world: civil dialogue, even if they disagree on certain policies.
In the leaked call, they discussed childhood vaccines and, of course, the assassination attempt on Trump, among other topics. Trump described the moment when the bullet grazed his ear: "felt like the world's largest mosquito." Trump also said Biden reaching out to him was "very nice."
In this particular leak, they discussed the shooting, as well as vaccines, and Trump agreed with Kennedy on the topic:
I agree with you, man. Something's wrong with that whole system, and it's the doctors you find. Remember I said I want to do small doses. Small doses. When you feed a baby, Bobby, a vaccination that is like 38 different vaccines, and it looks like it's meant for a horse, not a, you know, 10-pound or 20-pound baby.
It looks like you're giving, you should be giving a horse this, and do you ever see the size of it. It’s so massive, and then you see the baby all of a sudden starting to change radically. I've seen it too many times. And then you hear that it doesn't have an impact, right? But you and I talked about that a long time ago. Anyway, I would love you to do something, and I think it would be so good for you and so big for you.

It sounds like Trump is open to having Kennedy in a cabinet position.
Following the Trump assassination attempt, Kennedy appeared on NewsNation and said he believed this moment could unify the country.

As of right now, Kennedy vows to remain in the race. He posted on X:
Lots of rumors going around about my meeting this morning with President Trump. Our main topic was national unity, and I hope to meet with Democratic leaders about that as well. No, I am not dropping out of the race.

Kennedy later posted on X, apologizing that the conversation was leaked. But this is what the country needs more of -- civil discourse among those who don't always agree on policy yet can agree to disagree without shutting each other off.
When President Trump called me I was taping with an in-house videographer. I should have ordered the videographer to stop recording immediately. I am mortified that this was posted. I apologize to the president.
