A Northern Illinois University professor says that people who refuse to wear a face mask indoors while in his class will be kicked out. He claims that not wearing a mask “is a manifestation of ableism and racism.”
The University of Northern Illinois University physics professor Jahred Adelman sent a message, stating:
“Refusing to mask indoors is a manifestation of ableism and racism, an exercise of individual privilege that tells the most vulnerable that their health and the health of their loved ones does not matter. Thus, masks are required here. They are NOT optional.”
As my colleague Bonchie reported, a study out of Kansas contradicted the mask mandates. The observational study — “The Foegen Effect: A Mechanism by Which Facemasks Contribute to the COVID-19 Case Fatality Rate,” – authored by German doctor Zacharias Fögen, stated:
“The most important finding from this study is that contrary to the accepted thought that fewer people are dying because infection rates are reduced by masks, this was not the case.”
In February, the CDC said Americans can now go unmasked in “many parts of the country.” We are in September, yet some people still think they can force others to wear masks. A mandate is not law. Nobody could, can, or will be able to force anybody to wear a mask. But professor Adelman seemed to have missed the CDC announcements as of late.
My colleague Bob Hoge reported that the CDC admitted to abject failure in their COVID guidance.
Young America’s Foundation (YAF) obtained a copy of Adelman’s syllabus. It states, in part: “Masks are required AT ALL times in PHYS 253.” According to the syllabus obtained by YAF, it says:
“Masks are required AT ALL times in PHYS 253. Here and in your labs. It is not pleasant, but it is for your health and safety, my health and safety, and the health and safety of your friends and colleagues. If you do not follow this requirement, you will be asked to leave,”
Northern Illinois is a public university in Dekalb County, Illinois. In February, the university mitigated its mask requirements, but on its website, it states: “faculty members can require masks be worn in their teaching spaces.”
YAF spokeswoman Kara Zupkus said:
“As our nation’s campuses become more polarized with left-wing activists parading as educators, it’s up to us to hold these leaders accountable for their viewpoint discrimination, and ensure that conservative students are able to speak freely in the classroom.”
NEW: @jahred_adelman, an NIU professor, warned students that they would be removed from his class for not wearing a mask—and accusing those opposed to masks of perpetuating “racism” & “ableism.”
The school says his opinions are not representative of NIU. https://t.co/UaVPlAYPrV

Going maskless in indoor public settings is being labeled as “racist and ableist” by other professors as well. SUNY New Paltz professor Jessica Nydia Pabon-Colon teaches women’s, gender, and sexuality studies. Like Adelman, she claims:
“Refusing to mask indoors is a manifestation of ableism and racism, an exercise of individual privilege that tells the most vulnerable that their health does not matter.”
Racism should not be a word thrown around as often as the far-left seems to do. It seems like anything the left disagrees with is deemed “racist.” People should have the freedom to choose whether to wear a mask or not; there should not be a mandate, and for all the talk about canceling student debt to lower the burden on students, this mask “policy” seems to have the opposite effect.
