Wow. If you thought the Republican side of the aisle was divided (and it is), then the Democrats have shown that they REALLY know how to do division right. After the most brutal weekend for the DNC perhaps in its history, DNC chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz was supposed to be limited to ceremoniously gaveling in and out the convention before scuttling off to join the Hillary campaign.
However, DWS proved today that she is unable to appear in public without being subjected to a raining torrent of boos, even from the friendliest of audiences, her own Florida delegation. Accordingly, the DNC was quietly gaveled in by DNC secretary Stephanie Rawlings-Blake:
“I have decided that in the interest of making sure that we can start the Democratic convention on a high note that I am not going to gavel in the convention,” Wasserman Schultz told the Sun Sentinel newspaper in an interview.
Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who is also the Democratic National Committee’s secretary, handled the gaveling instead.
The Democrat unity campaign has gotten off to a much rougher start than even its Republican counterpart, with Bernie Sanders himself getting booed by his supporters when he encouraged them to unite behind Hillary to defeat Trump. Whoever it was who may or may not have worked in the Kremlin hacked those emails and released them to the public dropped the bomb on the Democrats at the worst possible time.
