On Saturday, a female protester was raped at #OccupyPhiladelphia. The suspect, a man who has been arrested “multiple times” in connection with a string of armed robberies in Michigan, had traveled cross country to join the protest.
On top of the reports of assaults and rapes occurring across the country (e.g., Cleveland, Dallas, and elsewhere), Andrew Breitbart posted a video of an Occupy protester at the epicenter of it all—the encampment at Zuccotti Park in New York—who stated that “at least 10 incidences of, at least, groping” and “there was a guy that got raped.”
Given all of this, the suggestion that the rapists might be “agents who want to discredit the men who are dedicated to the occupation,” as this British protester tells the echo-chamber at #OccupyOakland [beginning at the 2:45 mark], is particularly galling.

As was noted: As a movement “whose entire existence is predicated upon breaking the law,” it seems rather delusional to suggest that the rapes and assaults taking place among the #OWS crowd are “agents” trying to discredit the movement. Frankly, the #OWS movement seems to be fine discrediting itself without any help at all.
