Donald Trump was half-right when he said people would be tired of winning. Hillary Clinton may definitely be tired of winning, as the latest poll has her up by double digits.
The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll has Clinton leading Trump by 12 percentage points, to the tune of 45-33. This is the largest lead Clinton has held in this poll, her previous largest margin of victory was 9 points. It seems like all those yard signs and rally attendees are not translating to voters (something every respectable person involved in politics will tell you).
The poll isn’t done stating the obvious there, though, as it also shows an astonishing 22% of likely voters would not vote for either candidate. Usually in a Presidential election, voters will opt to choose the “lesser of two evils”, but this cycle that is simply not the case.
“Those who are wavering right now are just as likely to be thinking about supporting a third-party candidate instead, and not between Clinton and Trump,” said Tom Smith, who directs the Center for the Study of Politics and Society at the University of Chicago.
When Gary Johnson and Jill Stein are added to the poll, Clinton still leads by 8 points (41-33), with Johnson at 7% and Stein at 2%. This poll isn’t showing anything new, however, as Clinton has been leading by large margins throughout the election. While people like Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham will surely blame #NeverTrump Republicans, the blame can only be placed on Donald Trump himself.
Once again we see that Trump is an absolutely awful candidate with no chance of winning, but God forbid the GOP get their heads out of their butts and admit it.
