The horror of Democrat incompetence when it comes to law and order in California continues, with terrifying consequences.
Last Thursday, a father and daughter were stabbed to death by a man in a Palmdale shopping center parking lot. Palmdale is an inland area about 50 miles northeast of Los Angeles. It is well known for frequent crime and as a hub for methamphetamines and other street drugs.
Ken Evans (54) and his daughter McKenna (22) were working together on their car in the parking lot of a Kohl’s shopping center when they were allegedly approached by a homeless man who began to argue with them.
Elizabeth Evans told KTLA news that her daughter was a kind soul who befriended everyone, and called her husband a “doting father.”
“She wasn’t just my daughter, she was my best friend,” said Elizabeth Evans, the victim’s mother.
Elizabeth says her husband was a doting father and her daughter was the light of her life.
“He loved playing pool, he loved mountain biking, he loved spending time with his daughter,” said Elizabeth. “She was an absolute beacon … She didn’t know a stranger. Everybody became her best friend.”
Evans says she believes the attack was random and the attacker was a homeless person. She believes her husband died protecting his daughter. Authorities suspect the man to be a transient. The attacker is in custody his identity has yet to be confirmed.
Democrats in California have completely hobbled law enforcement in service of the “defund the police” movement, aided by activist district attorneys like George Gascon in Los Angeles and Chesa Boudin in San Francisco. Crime across the state continues to skyrocket, with little hope for the families of victims that they will ever see justice.
The tragic story of the Evans’ is indicative of an all-too common occurrence in the Golden State.
In 2018, Anthony Mele was stabbed in the neck by a violent transient as Mele sat in a restaurant courtyard. He was holding his 5-year-old daughter.
In January of 2022, the body of 22-year-old Emma Roark was discovered hanging from a tree near a Sacramento homeless encampment. She had been sodomized, strangled and hanged to death. The suspect was a 37-year-old transient who is now in custody for the brutal murder.
NASCAR driver Bobby East was fatally stabbed back in January as he fueled his vehicle at a Westminster, CA gas station. His attacker was a transient who had stabbed someone at that same gas station.
In September of 2021, a father of five was attacked by two homeless men, one wielding a machete. He suffered severe, permanent injuries and his family was chased by the homeless attackers until police were able to intervene.
The list is exhaustive. These are just a few examples. Yet, as Californians face the most brutal criminal environment in decades, the Democrat super majority continues to double down on their social justice agenda that favors criminals over victims and their families.
The Evans family has launched a crowd fund page to help fund funeral expenses.
