Planned Parenthood Launches $20 Million Fight Against GOP

Cecile Richards, Head of Planned Parenthood, has announced a counter-attack against her pro-life opponents.

The impact that the videos from The Center for Medical Progress have had upon her bloodthirsty organization originally appeared to be minimal. Not because the videos didn’t contain gruesome footage which deeply affected most of us, but because our reaction seemed to have barely registered with Cecile, her colleagues, and their allies. This might have been expected, though, as self-awareness isn’t a strong suit among pro-aborts.

However, Cecile’s video announcement this week tells another story:

Extremists have made the 2016 election about attacking reproductive rights. Enough is enough. With our supporters we’re launching ‘I Vote Planned Parenthood Action’. We will organize and mobilize to elect lawmakers who are in our corner. And politicians who side with these extremists? You are not my candidate. We’re paying attention and we vote.

None of the “extremist” pro-life candidates running for office are expecting your vote anyway, Cecile.

CNN reports:

Planned Parenthood is planning to spend at least $20 million fighting Republicans at the ballot box next year as the group punches back against GOP efforts to end its federal funding.

The group is planning to focus on the White House and Senate races in a few key states, including New Hampshire, Ohio, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The states not only have potentially competitive Senate races, but are also key swing states on the presidential map.

The $20 million will be spent on a mix of volunteer and activist organizing in each state and advertising.

It would seem that the videos have made Cecile and her minions perhaps more uncomfortable than even I previously thought. This isn’t to say they’ll verbally admit it, but shelling out $20 million is indeed a statement of at least slight frustration. As usual, their rhetoric used to attack these campaigns will be nothing but fear-mongering. Planned Parenthood will be sure to announce that Republicans don’t want women to have reproductive rights, that the GOP seeks to deny medical care to women in need, and that abortion is safe. This is all false, misleading propaganda from the largest abortion provider in the country, who depends on women’s wombs and their slaughtered offspring to fund their war chest. And this is bravery?

There is a less than a year to go until voters head to the polls, so it remains to be seen what impact a $20 million dollar attack against pro-life candidates will have. I doubt much of anything will occur to sway those already entrenched in their respective positions. Campaigns that are either pro-abort or pro-life preach to the choir more than anything. What is new this cycle is the existence of the vidoes from The Center for Medical Progress. They have frustrated the Left and bolstered the Right in ways ordinary activism has not. Talking about how “unfair” GOP policies are pales in comparison to footage of dishes filled with dismembered baby body parts being pushed around by smiling medical personnel.

We must continue to present the harsh reality of abortion in ways that underline the proper discomfort it elicits. Only through discomfort will we continue to be spurred into action. Clearly, Cecile Richards and Planned Parenthood are uncomfortable with their new, candid image. They are not easing off their message, and neither should we.
