Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has had a tough year. After barely squeaking out a win in 2022, she went through a very public and humiliating divorce, then underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot. When Boebert decided to move to Colorado's Fourth Congressional District to run for retired Rep. Ken Buck's seat, many saw it as an act of desperation and perhaps an admission that her congressional career was over. But it appears Boebert's political instincts were on the money. In a crowded field of Republican candidates, Boebert won Tuesday's primary election.

Boebert moves on to the November general election to face Trisha Calvarese, a Democrat carpetbagger who was a speechwriter for the late Richard Trumka.
Republican Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert won her primary for former Rep. Ken Buck's seat on Tuesday night, defeating a crowded Republican primary in her new district of district 4, according to the Associated Press.
Boebert opted to switch from her district to Buck's, who left Congress earlier this year, after she faced a tough primary in 2022. The Coloradoan said she decided to switch because she needed a new start after she faced a series of scandals in her home district, per CBS News.
The Colorado Republican also decided not to run for the special election in Buck's district that would last for the remainder of Buck's term. But Greg Lopez, who is the Republican nominee for the special election, did not run for the full term. If Boebert had decided to try and run in the special election, it would have opened a special election for her own seat in the third district.
