Two Teens Get an Object Lesson on Why the Second Amendment Matters

Joe Biden blathered through his victory lap on getting bipartisan gun control legislation on the federal books. Despite the concerning red flag law provisions, the sexist and unnecessary “boyfriend loophole,” and the fact that despite this legislation being signed into law on June 25, it did nothing to prevent crazies from Highland Park, Illinois to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from obtaining guns and killing more people over the July 4th weekend.

One invited participant, Manuel Oliver, a parent whose son was killed in the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, even said so.

Biden may try to do more, but this is one of the reasons that he won’t get his way. As long as the Democrats and his administration continue to aid and abet criminals and punish law-abiding citizens, those citizens are going to lean into the Second Amendment. Especially when it comes to protecting their lives and property.

Case in point, Fox News offers this story from Texas:

A Texas father shot two attempted robbery suspects who approached his SUV with his wife and two infant children inside, police announced Monday.

The husband and wife were arriving to their home just after midnight Sunday evening when the two teenage suspects approached the vehicle. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that the suspects attempted to open the vehicle’s rear door, where the two children were seated.

“The adult male feared for the safety of his family and fired shots and struck both suspects,” Sheriff Ed Gonzalez wrote in a statement. “The wife was driving and drove away after the shooting to get away from the suspects.”

These foolish teens messed around and found out why Gun Rights Matter™.

In Harris County, which is in the Houston area, a crime occurs every two minutes, according to Crime Grade. Among its 4,434,450 residents, the total property crime in a year is 32.69 per thousand residents. Harris County gets a D grade because of this, so you can bet your bottom dollar that a good majority of the residents are armed. Carjackers do not care about whether you have a child or your elderly grandmother in the back seat, they just want to steal your car. This father ensured he was prepared to protect his wife and children. In disabling the carjackers, he did just that.

As more stories like this are reported, the Biden administration, and the feckless Beto O’Rourke, who is trying to unseat Governor Greg Abbott, will be hard-pressed to divest Texans of their guns.

Police have not released any identifying information regarding the father nor his family.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident but say the father was within his rights to open fire.

God Bless Texas. Had this been California or New York, that father would be in jail and his name plastered all over the news so his family could be doxed and harassed. However, as crime in major cities is allowed to flourish under mostly Democrat administrations, I predict even Californians, New Yorkers, and the majority of the states will push back. Though it did not involve a gun, we already have seen this push back in that New York Bodega owner who stabbed a repeat felon to stop his brutal attack. The human instinct for self-preservation is recognized as a basic human right. The Supreme Court affirmed that the Constitution afforded Americans’ the ability to exercise that right through the Second Amendment. More Americans will choose to lean into that, especially if it involves preserving their life or the life of their loved ones.

A quote from Robert A. Heinlein’s book, Beyond This Horizon, is often snipped and used out of context to support gun rights. One of the reasons Heinlein’s character intimates that “an armed society is a polite society…” is because when criminals have to pay the price of being at the wrong end of the gun, it is a deterrent to crime, and also a way of culling the herd. Part of the quote also says, “We do not have enough things that kill off the weak and the stupid these days.”

In the case of those two teenagers, stupidity definitely came into play.

Lawful firearm owners exercising their 2A rights have changed that landscape, and despite Biden and the Left’s allusions otherwise, there will be no turning back.

Well, in the first place an armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life. For me, politeness is a sine qua non of civilization. That’s a personal evaluation only. But gun-fighting has a strong biological use. We do not have enough things that kill off the weak and the stupid these days. But to stay alive as an armed citizen a man has to be either quick with his wits or with his hands, preferably both. It’s a good thing.
