When even the United Nations is admitting that forcing female athletes to compete against biological males is dangerous and unfair, it is obvious that the tide is turning in the debate over the matter.
The U.N. General Assembly released a report titled,” Violence against women and girls, its causes and consequences,” in which it highlights the overall issue of violence against female athletes and how the inclusion of male trans-identified athletes has harmed them.
The report addresses issues like physical violence, exclusion, unfair competition, online abuse, and other challenges female athletes face. It notes that female athletes are “more vulnerable to sustaining serious physical injuries when female-only sports spaces are opened to males, as documented in disciplines such as volleyball, basketball, and soccer.”
"Female athletes have been injured, including concussions and broken bones, due to the inclusion of males in female sports categories. These injuries are especially common in contact sports where male physical advantages are most pronounced.”
The report also suggests that many women and girls have been excluded from sports as a result of discrimination, self-exclusion due to gender stereotypes, and fear of physical harm, especially in countries like Afghanistan and others.
The U.N. notes that including biological males in women’s sports has led to unfair competition. "Policies implemented by international federations allow males who identify as women to compete in female sports categories, resulting in numerous female athletes losing medals and placement,” the authors wrote.
An alarming number of women have lost opportunities and events from having to compete with men.
"By 30 March 2024, over 600 female athletes in more than 400 competitions have lost more than 890 medals in 29 different sports due to the inclusion of males in female categories. These losses affect career trajectories and demoralize female athletes.”
The document highlights other problems female athletes face, including economic exploitation, being forced into unfair contracts, receiving unequal pay, and losing control over their finances. In some cases, they are subjected to economic sabotage from those limiting their access to education or alternative employment.
"In elite sports, women and girls may lose control over earnings, forced to sign contracts that disproportionately benefit managers or sports organizations, which severely impacts their financial independence,” the report said.
There is also the issue of online abuse. Female athletes often experience body shaming, sexual harassment, and even threats, which can have deep impacts on their well-being.
"The mental health and safety of female athletes are gravely impacted by online violence, including being stalked, doxxed, and subjected to 'revenge porn.' This undermines their public image and performance.”
Even more surprising about this report is the solutions the United Nations puts forth. It recommends “Maintaining separate-sex sports” because it “does not automatically result in the exclusion of transgender persons from sports.”
These recommendations are similar to those made by some in the United States, who have suggested having separate leagues for trans-identified athletes instead of simply forcing women to compete with men. Unfortunately, the progressive mafia has frowned on this. They have opposed these ideas so strongly that at least one coach was fired for merely making the suggestion.
The Lake Oswego School District fired a high school track and field coach for daring to put forth a proposal that could have helped to solve the debate over transgender athletes in sports. Despite his desire to come to a fair solution, the wokies in the district didn’t think it was progressive enough and decided he was to be punished. The conflict started when coach John Parks wrote to district officials proposing a way to address the debate over transgenders in sports.
The head track & field coach at Lake Oswego High School said the district terminated his contract for writing letters to state officials advocating for change to laws pertaining to transgender athletes.
John Parks wrote two letters to Peter Weber, the Executive Director of the Oregon Student Activities Association, and state Sen. Rob Wagner before and after the state championships in May, respectively.
In the letters, Parks wrote that current state law, which protects athletes who wish to compete against the gender that aligns with their gender identity, compromises the integrity of girls' sports.
"The OSAA competition rules need to be aligned with what the rest of the world competes under," Parks wrote to Wagner, referring to hormone testing requirements enforced by the International Olympic Committee and other organizations.
"My proposal to encourage transgender participation is to offer an open division that is so named so it doesn't identify or discriminate but offers an opportunity to participate."
The coach told KATU that wants transgender athletes to be able to participate in sports and viewed this as a way for everyone to be satisfied. Yet, he was still fired after writing those two letters.
The fact that the United Nations, which is not exactly a bastion for conservatism, admits the deleterious impact of biological males competing in women’s sports is telling. The fact that anyone even needed to compile a report to prove this is depressing.
Nevertheless, we can still expect progressives to fight hard to force their stupid gender ideology on everyone else, no matter what the cost. Meanwhile, female athletes will be forced to deal with the consequences of these ridiculous ideas.
