Fresh off his recent acquittal after an impeachment attempt, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has come out swinging. During a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, Paxton lashed out at Texas Republicans and celebrated his vindication.

Also noteworthy were his statements regarding his political future. He hinted that he could potentially make a run for U.S. Senate.

During the interview, Paxton criticized Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), over his lack of action on the border crisis and other issues. “I can’t think of a single thing he’s accomplished for our state or even for the country,” he said.

When the impeachment was first announced, Cornyn said the allegations against the attorney general were “very deeply disturbing” and said that the trial was “painful to watch.”

Paxton also said Cornyn has “never really had competition,” which prompted Carlson to ask if he would consider running against him.

"Look, everything's on the table for me," Paxton replied. "Now that I've been through this and I've seen how guys like John Cornyn have represented the state of Texas — and not represented us — I think it's time somebody needs to step up and run against this guy that will do the job and do it the right way and represent us and worry about what's going on at the border."

Paxton’s acquittal represents a devastating defeat for both Democrats and Republicans in Texas, who desperately wished to see him removed from office. While the attorney general threw darts at both, he also lashed out at the Biden administration, claiming it was trying to punish him for his views.

Shortly after his acquittal was announced, Paxton took aim in a written statement at Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, who spearheaded the impeachment effort.

The sham impeachment coordinated by the Biden administration with liberal House Speaker Dade Phelan and his kangaroo court has cost taxpayers millions of dollars, disrupted the work of the Office of Attorney General and left a dark and permanent stain on the Texas House.

The impeachment trial involved a series of charges ranging from “disregard of official duty” to “acts of retaliation” and “misapplication of public resources.” The state Senate voted on each charge individually and cleared Paxton on all counts.

The outcome was a significant victory for the attorney general and could further boost his political prospects in the future even if he decides not to run for Cornyn’s seat. Indeed, he has already won a substantial level of support for his willingness to take on the Biden administration over the border crisis and other matters.

Paxton still faces another hearing related to securities fraud charges, which originated in 2015. However, the attorney general remains undaunted, acknowledging that if possible, they would imprison him. “I don’t think they’re going to stop,” he told Carlson.
