Adam Schiff (D-CA) has a long history of spinning wild narratives and bending the evidence to meet his conspiracy theories. That was most noticeable during Donald Trump’s first impeachment, in which Schiff lied during a hearing about the contents of the now-famous phone call between Trump and Ukraine’s president. The California Democrat was also caught pushing fake, Donald Trump Jr. emails during the Russian collusion farce.

During a Monday night hearing on the incident at the Capitol, Schiff claimed that members of Congress sent a text message to former Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to instruct former Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

“Not only did Schiff misrepresent the substance of the text message and its source, he even doctored original text messages, which were obtained and reviewed by The Federalist in their entirety,” Bonchie wrote.

The full content of the message, which was sent to Meadows from Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) the night before the riot, was much longer than the text Schiff displayed before Congress. He redacted certain parts of the text and added punctuation to make it appear as if Jordan were telling Meadows to instruct Pence to stop the certification of the electoral votes.

This is where Schiff’s imbecility gets exposed. In the rush to doctor the text in order to push his false narrative, he missed the fact that the message in the text wasn’t actually from Jordan. Instead, it was actually a forward from a man named Joseph Schmitz who was trying to make a legal argument about the certification of the election.

As he had in the past, Schiff told a massive lie to push a political agenda. He was so brazen that he did not even bother to make an actual effort to cover up the fact that he was advancing an obvious falsehood.

The question is: Why does Schiff continue to lie so bigly even when he knows he is going to get caught? The obvious answer is that he knows he will face no consequences for deliberately deceiving Congress and the American public. Having served in Congress for 20 years, he knows folks like him will never be held accountable for their lack of honesty.

But this isn’t the only reason.

Schiff understands one important reality: The damage will be done even after his lie is exposed. Sure, some people will find out after the fact that he was full of bovine excrement. But most will not.

It is the same principle used by activist media outlets like CNN, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and left-wing propaganda mills. They publish a deceptive story designed to mislead their readers. When someone calls them out, they update the story, or on rare occasions, issue a correction.

The problem is that, compared to the number of people who read – and believe – the original deceptive story, the number of people who see the correction is minuscule.

To put it simply, Schiff knows that most who watched the hearing will be sufficiently deceived. They will tell their friends and loved ones that Rep. Jordan instructed Meadows to push Pence to stop Biden from taking office. Since most of these individuals don’t consume conservative media, they might never find out that Schiff is a lying liar who lies like Bill Clinton to his wife.

It’s a shrewd, if not insidious, maneuver. It is one that Schiff has used previously and it is no surprise that he employed this strategy at a time when Democrats are struggling to maintain a semblance of favor with an American public that is set to kick out of Congress during next year’s midterm elections.

Indeed, the entire House select committee only exists because the Democrats have nothing on which to run. This was a valiant effort, but unfortunately for the left, Americans are more concerned about jobs, the economy, education, and immigration than they are about a bunch of thugs who engaged in thuggish behavior at the Capitol building.

But I suppose you can’t blame them for trying, right?
