This one might make you laugh. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot came under fire when she announced that she would only allow one-on-one interviews with non-white journalists. In fact, the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) and Judicial Watch are suing her for this discriminatory practice.

Lightfoot’s lawyers are mounting a rather peculiar defense against the accusations of racial discrimination. “Attorneys for Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot are arguing that a preliminary injunction against her for racial discrimination is unnecessary because she only racially discriminated against reporters for a strict two-day period,” according to the Daily Caller.

The two organizations are suing Lightfoot for refusing to grant an interview to DCNF reporter Thomas Catenacci, who happens to be white. A few weeks ago, Lightfoot announced that she would only grant one-on-one interviews to minority reporters. “Catenacci contacted Lightfoot’s office on three separate occasions over a five-day span in May and was not granted an interview, prompting the lawsuit from DCNF with the help of Judicial Watch,” according to the Daily Caller.

An initial hearing in the case was held on June 7. A district judge ordered the mayor’s office to file a declaration under oath clarifying the policy and to indicate whether it would be implemented in the future.

“As announced by the Mayor in the May 19 letter invoked by Plaintiffs, the conduct was ‘on the occasion of the two-year anniversary of [her] inauguration’ as Mayor,” the filing read. “For these reasons, counsel indicated that Plaintiffs’ request for preliminary injunctive relief is moot, as the challenged conduct is not continuing.”

Lightfoot referred to the lawsuit as “completely frivolous” during a CNN interview on Friday.

Regardless of whether the mayor’s discriminatory policy was only in place for two days, Lightfoot’s actions are absurd. The people who wail and moan about racism on the daily are more than supportive of racism when it’s one of their own doing it. So-called progressives foment anti-white sentiment while claiming to be trying to improve race relations.

Policies like this are a clear indicator that the hard left is not interested in healing the racial divide. Indeed, they wish to widen the rift, because it allows them the means by which they can maintain influence and power. If Lightfoot wished to promote diversity, there were plenty of other ways to accomplish that objective without using a blatantly racist policy. But, as we know, this had less to do with diversity and more to do with woke virtue- signaling.
