The Far-Left’s Call For 'Unity' Is Nothing More Than A Meaningless Smokescreen

After the corporate press declared former Vice President Joe Biden the winner of the 2020 presidential election, Democrats celebrated, rejoicing in their supposed victory. The fact that the Trump campaign is currently contesting the election does not seem to faze them one iota. Many on the far-left took the media’s declaration as a signal to go even further on the offensive.

But in his first speech after our Fourth Estate crowned him the winner, Biden seemed to extend an olive branch to those who did not vote for him.  “I understand the disappointment tonight,” he said. “But now let’s give each other a chance. It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature.”

The former vice president added: “And to make progress, we have to stop treating our opponents as our enemies. They are not our enemies. They’re Americans.”

However, not everyone on the left was amenable to Biden’s call for peace.

Once the declaration of Biden’s supposed victory was heard, many high-profile anti-Trumpers and far-left radicals smelled blood in the water. Like a ravenous horde of piranhas, they set out to punish those who support the president.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and members of the Lincoln Project floated the idea of doxxing high-profile Trump allies and targeting them for harassment. Indeed, the Lincoln Project’s social media account posted a tweet urging its followers to harass employees of a law firm representing the Trump campaign in its lawsuits alleging voter fraud.

But even if these examples didn’t exist, would we have any reason to believe that anyone on the far-left actually wants peace and unity with the other half of the American population? Should we take Biden at his word and give him a honeymoon period to prove his mettle? Well, let’s take a look at the facts, shall we?

Democrats and their close friends and allies in the establishment media have been complaining incessantly about the Trump team’s contesting the results of the presidential election. Former President Barack Obama claimed that the president’s allegations of voter fraud are somehow delegitimizing “not just the incoming Biden administration, but democracy generally.”

But isn’t this precisely what the far-left did when they knowingly pushed a now-debunked hoax regarding President Trump and Russia? The Rachel Maddows of the world dragged the American public through four years of innuendo, investigations, and reportage that were all designed to convince everyone that our president was secretly a Russian spy working to undermine the United States.

The narrative they spun was nothing more than a cheap parody of the “Manchurian Candidate,” except, in this case, they spent over $30 million of taxpayer funds to bring this charade to the Department of Justice courtesy of special counsel Robert Mueller. Do we really want to believe that people who would perpetrate such a fraud actually want unity with us?

But what about the constant demonization of conservatives that began long before Trump ever publicly considered running for office? For decades, progressive politicians and alleged journalists use their platforms to shame, humiliate, and lambast conservatives and Republicans. They falsely labeled anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders as bigots who hate everyone except straight white men. Can we accept the notion that people who have lied about us for so long actually want to unite with us?

Of course, we can’t forget the far-left’s penchant for censoring viewpoints that contradict their so-called progressive ideology. News outlets and social media companies have intensified their efforts to squash the conservative voices online and on the airwaves.

The corporate media routinely downplays or ignores stories that might harm the left or cast the right in a positive light. One only needs to look at how they handled the Hunter Biden story to understand what the Fourth Estate will do to protect their favored politicians.

The same holds true for social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook, who suppressed the Hunter Biden story on their platforms. Their motivation was obvious: The details of the story emerged only weeks before Election Day, and they knew it could damage the former vice president’s prospects for winning the race.

But even worse, progressives who work at Twitter and Facebook have exhibited an obvious bias against conservatives on their platforms. They enforce their terms and conditions rather selectively, as one can easily see from my article on why I was suspended from Twitter. These companies are not concerned with free speech when it comes to right-leaning viewpoints. Should conservatives believe that people who wish to silence us would actually want to unite with us?

Then, there is the issue of political violence. Since 2016, we have seen numerous instances in which members of the Antifa movement have viciously assaulted conservatives at Trump rallies and other events. Under the guise of fighting fascism, these individuals have crashed these events, punching, kicking, and even stabbing Trump supporters. One proponent of the movement even murdered a member of a conservative group in Portland, Oregon.

And yet, we hear nary a peep from the far-left about these incidents. These are the people who hold every conservative responsible for tragedies like the death of Heather Heyer at the Charlottesville “Unite The Right” rally. But when it is members of their team who carry out attacks against Republicans, they suddenly develop a nasty case of laryngitis.

It goes even deeper than that when we see Democrats and alleged journalists defend the likes of Antifa or pretend that they are nothing more than an “idea.” Would it be wise for conservatives to assume that people who excuse violence against us are sincere when they say they want unity?

Of course, this isn’t to say that everyone on the left shares the views of the loud radicals. As someone who has lived in Austin, TX for eight years, I’ve engaged with plenty of liberals who do not subscribe to the extreme views of others on their side. Unfortunately, these aren’t the individuals who are given the microphone, nor do they possess platforms large enough to push back against those who clearly do not desire any measure of peace or unity.

The bottom line is that the last thing the far-left wants is unity. They have no desire for understanding or civil discourse. Over the past four years, they have shown their true colors. They despise anything that presents an obstacle to making their Marxist vision a reality.

In light of this, conservatives should not seek unity with the extremists on the left, and we should be naive enough to believe that they want anything other than our destruction. Instead, we should defeat them on the battlefield of ideas. We must oppose their ideology with one that is superior. Regardless of how the election turns out, it is essential that conservatives do not become complacent. If we are going to win the culture, we must be willing to fight.
