Twitter has stepped up its censorship efforts against President Trump over the past week amid a nationwide debate over the integrity of the 2020 election. If former Vice President Joe Biden, who was recently declared the winner of the election, becomes the next president, the social media company could further silence Trump. 

The Daily Caller pointed out that “Twitter allows for public officials to push the community guidelines further than private citizens in the interest of information and direct engagement of users with their elected officials, according to an official statement from the website.”

In a conversation with the Daily Caller News Foundation, a Twitter spokesperson said:

“Twitter’s approach to world leaders, candidates, and public officials is based on the principle that people should be able to choose to see what their leaders are saying with clear context. This means that we may apply warnings and labels, and limit engagement to certain Tweets. This policy framework applies to current world leaders and candidates for office, and not private citizens when they no longer hold these positions.”

The spokesperson added, “As we’ve stated many times, we want to be clear that the accounts of world leaders are not above our policies.” 

The social media company states that it will take enforcement action against any account that promotes terrorism, posts private information, threatens violence, engages in child sexual exploitation, or encourages self-harm. 

Of course, it forgot to also add: “Those who espouse views that conflict with the ultra-Marxist beliefs of our employees.” If Trump does not win re-election, we can be sure that Twitter will find any excuse necessary to silence his account. In fact, the left, in general, will do everything they can to erase Trump as much as possible. They are already figuring out how to prosecute him if he has to leave office. 

But this isn’t just about Trump. Progressive suppression efforts against conservatives and libertarians will likely intensify if he does not win. The far left gave up on debate and winning on the battlefield of ideas a long time ago. At this point, they will not be satisfied until people are no longer able to hear views that leftists deem unacceptable.
