According to one elector who is receiving hundreds of emails a day from Democrats, telling him to change his vote from Donald Trump to Hillary Clinton, that is happening.
In Texas, unlike some other states, electors may change their mind, and it has Democrats from around the country urging them to do just that, said Alex Kim, an elector for Texas’ 24th Congressional District.
“At first everyone was kinda enchanted by it,” Kim said. “Now all the electors are starting to get beaten down. There are some electors who have been threatened with harm or with death.”
Texas is a state where electors are free to choose whichever candidate they’d like. In other states, electors are bound by law to vote for the person they have been selected to represent. So naturally, Republican electors in Texas are being bombarded with requests to change their votes. According to Kim, some of those “requests” are coming with promises of violence and/or death if they don’t follow through.
This is not limited to Texas. In Michigan, one elector spoke of the threats he has received:
“You have people saying ‘you’re a hateful bigot, I hope you die,’ ” he said. “I’ve had people talk about shoving a gun in my mouth and blowing my brains out. And I’ve received dozens and dozens of those emails. Even the non-threatening-my-life emails are very aggressive.”
So much for Hillary’s mantra of “When they go low, we go high.”
I love how Kim responds when he gets a nasty email:
“You may all go to hell, and I shall go to Texas,” Kim joked. “If it was good enough for Davy Crockett, then it’s good enough for me.”
Classic.
