During the Monday episode of his show on SiriusXM 125, David Webb had mentioned accusations from certain folks on the left that essentially made American culture out to be a bad thing, for the United States and the rest of the world. Wrapped up in the “culture” term was our economic system, our educational system and of course, our culture as culture. At the end, Mr Webb posed a question, “Is our culture bad?”
I just couldn’t let that one lie there. So, I called in to the show and actually got to speak with Mr Webb. What I told him was this…
I mentioned that both of us having been overseas, he as a Marine and I as a Soldier are very familiar with the sight on certain designated days, a line of foreign nationals stretching around the block occupied by the U.S. Embassy, waiting to apply for visas to come to the United States. Both of us have also been down Embassy Row in Washington DC. At no time have I or did Webb, ever recall seeing a line of Americans around any foreign embassy wanting to emigrate. Over in CID (Army Criminal Investigation Command) or in his case, NCIS, they’d call that a clue. Mr Webb also managed to add a few anecdotes of his own as sort of corollaries to my example. If you want to listen to these two segments, they are on Monday the 6th episode and start at 23 minutes and 2hrs, 15 minutes respectively.
Later on, in the last hour of the show, I managed to tee up with Mr Webb, the idea of revisiting the Davis-Bacon Act during the Infrastructure Bill discussions I wrote of in a previous article. More to follow on that.
You can catch David Webb, Monday-Friday, 0900-1100 EST. SiriusXM members can download broadcasts.
