Former FBI Director James Comey attended a book promotion event in Austin, Texas on Wednesday evening coinciding with the release of his new fictional murder mystery novel. The gathering, hosted at Austin Central Public Library, was promoted as an author discussion, a reading, an audience Q&A, and a book signing line. A local promo flier read:

BookPeople and APL welcome James Comey in conversation with Sonal Shah to celebrate the release of Central Park West.

But, Comey didn’t get the welcome he may have anticipated in the progressive-stronghold city. Instead, Owen Shroyer, host of The War Room with Owen Shroyer on InfoWars gave Comey an unforgettable welcome. While standing, clapping, and throwing his arms in the air in celebration, Shroyer shouted:

The deep state hero, James Comey! The Democrat hero, James Comey! He did it! He illegally investigated Donald Trump! Thank you, Comey for weaponizing the FBI against Donald Trump!

Shroyer didn’t stop there. As the crowd quieted, he continued his heckling, saying:

Thank you for covering up Hillary Clinton’s crimes to set the stage to cover up the Biden crimes, too.

As the leftist crowd began to grumble, Shroyer waived his arms gesturing they should join in his applause, telling the audience:

C’mon y’all! Let’s hear it for James Comey! C’mon we love the FBI, we love the federal government! What, you guys, what? You don’t love the FBI? You guys don’t appreciate James Comey weaponizing the government against Donald Trump?

The crowd started to become hostile, booing Shroyer’s disingenuous celebration of Comey, and voices saying “sit down” can be heard. Shroyer turns his attention to Comey, addressing him directly, saying:

C’mon James, you should be happy! Donald Trump is the bad guy. We should be happy Comey weaponized the government against Trump.

Shroyer was approached by a law enforcement officer and took his seat while saying:

What the heck? I don’t understand, he’s a hero. Oh man, I’m so excited. I don’t know why these people aren’t just as excited as me, I’m sorry for my excitement on this.

The law enforcement officer gives Shroyer two thumbs-up gestures seeming to indicate that by taking his seat and quieting it would be permissible for Shroyer to continue in attendance at the public event. Watch the video, below:

Shroyer was charged and arrested for being at the Capitol on January 6, where he accompanied Alex Jones. The case pending against Shroyer is unresolved.
