CNN's superstar Scott Jennings (that phrase is probably killing most of CNN's contributors) said something really poignant on Wednesday that truly highlighted where the crux of the Democrat's problems lie in terms of PR.
Jennings described what he called the "dumbest strategy in politics" currently being utilized by Democrats, where they take the side on an issue that has 20 percent approval because they reflexively revolt against whatever Trump is doing. This includes keeping men out of women's sports and collapsing USAID.
"This is like Trump's superpower," said Jennings. "Finding a bunch of 80-20 issues and getting on the 80 and everybody who is reflexively against him gets on the 20, and now the Democrat Party has a 31% approval rating."

As usual, Jennings is right. Though he's using the 80/20 idea here loosely, he's still accurate.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll found that America wanted to freeze foreign assistance programs via USAID by 16 points (56 percent vs 40 percent) and an NYT/Ipsos poll found that 79 percent of people say males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports.
But you can see this in other places as well.
As reported by The Federalist, Rasmussen found that nearly 80 percent of Americans favor voter ID laws:
A new Rasmussen Reports poll finds that more than three-quarters of likely U.S. voters (77%) say requiring a photo ID to vote is a reasonable way to protect the integrity of elections. Just 17 percent think such measures are unreasonable. The latest numbers are up from 74 percent support in 2021, according to the pollster.
The survey of 1,229 respondents, conducted Jan.26-28, also found 60 percent believe voter ID laws do not “discriminate against some voters,” with 30 percent saying they do.
According to the Daily Wire, a poll conducted by McLaughlin and Associates on behalf of Tea Party Patriots Action, sees that the vast majority of Americans love DOGE's work and want to see a border bill:
In results that suggest broad support for Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency’s efforts, about four out of five voters agreed that the U.S. government should “rein in Washington’s reckless borrowing and spending” to tamp down inflation, according to poll results obtained by The Daily Wire. Over 60% of respondents said that Congress should take action to secure the border before it breaks for a 17-day recess in April.
“The American people want to shrink the size and scope of the federal government, and they want to rein in Washington’s reckless borrowing and spending. That’s exactly what Elon Musk and his colleagues at DOGE are doing,” Tea Party Patriots founder Jenny Beth Martin told The Daily Wire in a statement.
“The poll we commissioned shows they’re doing exactly what the public wants — 79% of Americans want to ‘rein in Washington’s reckless borrowing and spending.’ This includes 69% of Independents and 65% of Democrats,” she said.
Jennings' words, backed up by various polls, actually highlight a deep-seated issue Democrats can't seem to get over.
They're still the anti-Trump party.
Now that might sound logical. Democrats are the opposition party to the Republican Party and that's the way things are, but that's not what I mean. Democrats suffer from being pathologically glued to being "the resistance."
If Trump does it, their knee-jerk reaction is to support the opposite. If today, Trump were to literally encourage puppy adoption across the nation, Democrats would find a way to make it sound like adopting puppies is somehow economically irresponsible, inconsiderate to people with dog allergies, or somehow racist.
Don't think that's too out of the park. They've said this about dogs before.
Democrats are so zoned in on hating Trump and being the party that resists him that they're doing exactly as Jennings says they are. They're putting themselves into unpopular positions on purpose in order to continue to uphold their hatred of Trump in their hearts and minds. It's almost too unreal to be true.
I can't help but think that their donors are forcing them to take these positions, lest they cut the cash flow. George Soros spends an inordinate amount of money attempting to introduce radical leftism to the United States, and he's definitely got his hands in foundations and organizations that give money to these politicians. So it's not exactly outside the realm of reality that these people don't hate Trump that much, they just love the cash they get for saying they do.
But it's literally putting their dignity up for sale if they are. They're making absolute fools of themselves in order to push this narrative.
Moreover, as I wrote yesterday, they're fomenting civil unrest which usually gets people hurt or killed. Is that really worth the paycheck.

I guess for Democrats it is, but ultimately, they're going to greed themselves out of a job. Being anti-Trump is, at least at this point, being anti-American. The people voted for what Trump is doing. They largely approve of what he's doing. So if the Democrats are that gung-ho about hating Trump, then fine, but they'll soon find themselves wildly unpopular with a voting base who will feel increasingly disconnected from them.
But far be it from me to stop them from lodging their own bullets in their own feet.
