After Mark Zuckerberg announced that Meta's platforms, including Facebook, would be going in a new direction in terms of its content moderation and fact-checking, the social media CEO appeared on "The Joe Rogan Experience," on Friday to reveal just how far the Democrats were willing to go in order to keep the narrative about COVID and the vaccines intact.
Speaking to Rogan, Zuckerberg revealed that representatives of the Biden administration would call his employees and "scream and curse" at them over content that made their narrative over COVID and the vaccines look fragile. This included memes.
"These people from the Biden administration would call up our time and scream at them and curse," said Zuckerberg, noting that this is all documented.
Rogan asked if any of the phone calls were recorded, to which Zuckerberg said sadly they weren't, but that there are emails in the open now that prove just how crazy the Biden admin got with them.
"It basically got to this point where we were like 'no, we're not going to take down things that are true, that's ridiculous,'" said Zuckerberg. "They wanted us to take down this meme of Leonardo DiCaprio looking at a TV, talking about how ten years from now you're going to see an ad that says 'okay, if you took a COVID vaccine you're eligible for this kind of... class action lawsuit' meme."
Biden admin demanded Facebook take down that meme, to which they refused, saying "we're not going to take down humor or satire."
According to Zuck, this is when the Biden admin began to punish Meta for its refusals
"And at some point... Biden, he gave some statement at some point... where he was basically like, 'these guys are killing people," said Zuckerberg. "Then all these different agencies and branches of government basically just started investigating, coming after our companies. It was brutal."

This actually fits, as it was revealed through the Twitter files that something very similar was happening on other platforms during the pandemic and the push for vaccines. As Musk revealed through the release of internal documents, government agencies and even pharmaceutical companies would demand these platforms censor various posts, including memes, if they threatened the corporate media narrative at all.
Moreover, it's highly believable that the Biden admin would begin investigations into Meta, as this was a reoccurring pattern you'd see from the admin whenever something stood in its way, the main example of this, of course, being Donald Trump himself.
So, as we can see, Facebook even had its own bout with fighting back against censorship attempts, however, unlike Elon Musk, Zuckerberg clearly didn't fight back as hard due to many factors. Several of which may have included its alignment with leftist values, as well as many employees at the time who were more than happy to carry the corporate left and Democrat Party's narrative.
And this is what continues to be an issue for many people. For years, Zuckerberg and Meta were complicit in the censorship of millions of people, and yet, Zuckerberg claims that he and Meta will pursue more censorship-free avenues just like Musk did from here on. This doesn't exactly put a lot of people at ease, and there's quite a bit of doubt as to the Zuck's sincerity.
At the very least, this shines some light as to why Meta was complicit, as they were being threatened in various way by the Biden administration and the Democrats.
The question is, when those threats inevitably return, what will Zuckerberg and Meta do?
