Let's start with a short recap of the last decade.
If you were to look back at my writing in 2015, and saw my commentary on TheBlaze around that era, you would have seen a Brandon that was vehemently anti-Trump. I found the man disgusting. He was crude, insulting, seemingly immoral, and seemed more intent to cause division within the Republican Party than he was to bring it together.
The fact that he was losing in the polls to Hillary Clinton by such wide margins only reinforced my belief that he was so polarizing that Republicans weren't showing up to support him.
Man, was the 2016 election a wake-up call in so many ways. Trump won, and I was left with a lot of lessons to learn. After that election, I wrote a congratulatory article to Trump, stating that I hope he proves me wrong, and that he ends up being a very good President. I wanted to be humbled, and sure enough, Trump was the man for the job. His time in office proved to be one of spectacular decision-making that brought our economy up and crime down. While I wasn't behind every decision he made, he was undeniably a good president. By 2020, I was enthusiastically pulling the lever for him and defending him vigorously against the baseless attacks of the left, and they were constant. In fact, I can credit the left with causing me to drift further into Trump's camp.
His loss was a massive surprise, and with it also came a lot of lessons that I feel many in the GOP learned. In a way, the 2020 election was ultimately a blessing as it taught us that radical leftism doesn't work, the DNC is a power-hungry organization that doesn't care about you, and really, really need to tighten up our election security.
By 2024, it was clear who needed to be in charge, and it wasn't the Democrats. Their corruption, radicalism, incompetence, and immoral behavior they endorsed and encouraged was inexcusable. They had brought the economy to its knees, opened the border, attempted to force Draconian measures over a highly survivable virus, and spat in the faces of Americans who protested. Trump was the obvious choice for America, and we all made that clear together in November.
Look back through this time period. Your story might have been similar to mine in various ways, it might not have at all, but one thing we can all agree on about the last eight years is that we learned a lot. We saw how deep the deep state went, how depraved the Democrats were willing to become, and that the old way of things was only creating more problems than it was solving, and we needed warriors, not statesmen, to help turn it all around. That's what we all voted for, and it's what we're getting.
I tell you all this, because while we were learning from events, discovering these secrets, and witnessing the corruption first-hand... the Never-Trump Republicans weren't learning a thing.
I've often said spite is the most motivating emotion a human can experience, overpowering common sense and sometimes even love. The Never-Trump right is clearly so infected with spite that it's willing to openly betray the nation and embrace destruction, all because of its hatred for Trump.
You've seen them. The Lincoln Project is so desperate to oppose Trump that their hatred spills over into other, solidly conservative and well-proven leaders like Ron DeSantis. Rick Wilson accused Mike Pence of wanting to stone gays, and Steve Schmidt has no shame while attempting to compare January 6 to 9/11.
You watch as Liz Cheney bent over backwards to wreck Trump in every possible way, so much so that her entire campaign for reelection focused obsessively on Trump, and she sacrificed her entire career on trying to bring him down.
No matter how big the lie, or slimy the attempt, the Never-Trump "right" has no shame. They will tie themselves in knots, defy all logic, and commit to Olympic-level mental gymnastics in order to justify their hatred and assist in complicating anything Trump does.
They will even pardon the most obvious and egregious examples of corruption from Democrats, including the recent pardoning of Hunter Biden by Joe Biden. As I noted yesterday, The Bulwark came to Biden's defense, saying it was good of Biden to do this as "Trump's weaponized Justice Department" would have unfairly come after Hunter.
This is why the swamp exists. “Republicans” willing to stand by and let Democrats commit crimes because they didn’t like the form the swamp’s destroyer took. pic.twitter.com/vSDEn4EO9M

Jaw dropping.
The Biden family, and many in indeed the Democrat Party, shamelessly use government as a weapon against, not just their political opponents, but everyday citizens like you and me. Trump's goal isn't to wield the Justice Department like the left did, but use it to root out the corruption that had settled in Washington, and then hopefully reduce its power. One of these things that needs to be uncovered is, yes, the crimes of the Biden family as they were at the top of the governmental food chain and whatever issues they created need to be fixed. It will be incredibly harsh, yes, but fair, and entirely necessary.
What happened during Joe Biden's presidency cannot happen again.
If that doesn't drive how awful and ridiculous the Never-Trump crowd is, then behold Former GOP Rep, David Jolly, who made the case that Democrats and leftist pundits should not be trying to find middle ground with Trump:
“We didn’t wake up after the election and think, I’m upset because I was wrong. We’re upset because we know we’re right, but we’re on the losing side of this battle,” Jolly said on MSNBC. “And so what does that mean for a responsible media, for a responsible electorate, for a responsible Democratic Party in this environment? The only answer is to double down in holding Donald Trump and his allies accountable and double down on trying to present a democracy that represents all people, even in a losing environment.”
Jolly said that giving Trump parity in the media is something they can't do.
“Forgive me for saying this. You can’t go to Mar-a-Lago. You can’t do it,” he said. "You have to hold Donald Trump accountable for being wrong. You have to hold all of his allies accountable for being wrong, even if that means you’re in a losing environment, and you’re threatening your own liberty and your own security as an American.”
“You either believe Donald Trump and Trumpism is wrong, a threat to American democracy, or you don’t,” he concluded.

Let's break this down to what it really is.
Democrats, including leftists in the very media that have been attempting to destroy Donald Trump through lies and deceit, are attempting to reach out and possibly come to some sort of understanding, and Never-Trump is still planting its feet and finger-waging at any leftist attempting to bridge the gap.
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think Democrats are doing this out of some hope to understand and heal old wounds. I think their networks are in danger of becoming a stagnant waste of space, and capitalism is causing them to try to market themselves as watchable by both sides. Regardless, they recognize a common sense need to stop being uncompromising nut jobs... but Never-Trump can't get there.
These people are rooted in place, unable to evolve and grow, unwilling to learn lessons or see reason. They're still fighting a battle that ended in 2016. The 2024 election should be the absolute nail in that coffin as well.
But these people are so filled with spite and uncompromising hatred that they're unwilling, if not unable, to simply move on. They are the bitter clingers, clutching to the idea of a GOP that no longer exists.
We live in a new era, and we have a new GOP. This GOP is one that goes on the offensive instead of reacting to everything after it's done. This GOP is proactive, it doesn't just complain and write sternly written letters, and it doesn't apologize when the left becomes outraged. This isn't a party of lawmakers, it's a party of unlawmakers, which is exactly what this nation requires right now. Compared to this new GOP, the old GOP is a sad, cowardly, corrupt mess.
And if that's what the Never-Trump "right" misses, then they too can fade away and become irrelevant like the old GOP it misses.
If you're as big a fan of the new GOP as I am, then you're in good company. Consider joining RedState's VIP Program, because we're going to be hard at work covering all the imploding and disassembling happening thanks to Trump's incoming cabinet.
