Twelve-year-old Jaiden, who attends The Vanguard School in Colorado Springs, found himself in trouble with his teachers after he wore a backpack that featured a patch of the Gadsden flag. He was kicked out of class and his mother was called into the office to discuss the wrong Jaiden had done.
According to one of the school staff, the famous flag wasn't allowed in the school due to its "origins in slavery and the slave trade." A revelation that clearly amused Jaiden who clearly knows more about his nation's history than his own school.
The flag was one that was popularly displayed during the Revolutionary War as a symbol of the people's resistance toward the tyranny under the British monarchy which had used and abused the American people, sparking the war that gave birth to what would eventually become the United States.
In a video obtained by Tuttle Twins author Connor Boyack, school staff can be seen explaining to the parent that the flag has racist connotations. However, the mother doesn't let this falsehood slide and she immediately begins correcting the staff member, telling her of the Gadsden Flag's origin and meaning.
"Yeah, it has nothing to do with slavery. That's like the Revolutionary War patch that was displayed when they were fighting the British," said the mother.
As she spoke, the school staff member began waving her hands and shaking her head. Once the mother finished by saying she might be thinking of the Confederate Flag, the staff member argued that she was just enforcing the provided policy and that the mother had every right to disagree with it.
This didn't placate the mother, however, who continued by saying even the ACLU notes that Jaiden has the right to wear this patch if he so chooses.
After some back and forth, the school staffer who had previously tried to sell the idea that it was a racist flag kept falling back on the "school policy" but the mother finished beautifully. She mentioned that the school was teaching the Revolutionary War in the 7th grade and that the founding fathers stood up against laws that were unjust...just like the policy that was getting Jaiden kicked out of class.
Meet 12yo Jaiden who was kicked out of class yesterday in Colorado Springs for having a Gadsden flag patch, which the school claims has "origins with slavery."

The school's director said via email that the patch was "disruptive to the classroom environment."

As Boyack notes, the story doesn't end there.
Director of Operations of the Vanguard School, Jeff Yocum, attempted to further justify the school's policy on the Gadsden Flag by mentioning the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission which said the flag "originated in the Revolutionary War in a non-racial context" but added, "whatever the historic origins and meaning of the symbol, it has been sometimes interpreted to convey racially-tinged messages."
Yocum doubled down by citing a "graphic design scholar" in an article at TheConversation.com who said, "some may now see the Gadsden flag as a symbol of intolerance hate โ or even racism."
Then Yocum claimed Jaiden was breaking a rule by displaying the flag because students were prohibited from displaying things that referred to "drugs, tobacco, alcohol, or weapons."
If it feels like Yocum was scrambling in desperation to find justification for this false and clearly biased take on a patriotic flag, then you're not alone.
Jaiden attempted to take his story to the local press but they declined to interview him.
This likely isn't the end of the story and Jaiden and his parents aren't done fighting back. RedState will keep you abreast of the situation as it unfolds. Jaiden's story isn't the first and it won't be the last. You can find a new story about a school attempting to indoctrinate students with anti-American views, pro-LGBT positions, and a whole host of leftist ideological positions every time you log on to the internet. X accounts like Libs of TikTok give you a window into the education system where people who call themselves "educators" proudly admit they are brainwashing children to the best of their ability and, moreover, displaying their own symbols be it the "progress flag" or the Black Lives Matter flag.
Modern schools have forced parents into a war, not just with the schools themselves, but with the greater culture. Too many of these activists posing as educators believe that America's children โ your children โ are the gateway to a complete cultural takeover that will make their radical positions the norm in society. All they have to do is indoctrinate your child while your back is turned, and in a matter of a decade or so, they will reign supreme.
It's a sound strategy, or it would be if parents weren't constantly fighting back.
When parents are moved to act, they become the most powerful unofficial political party in the nation, capable of altering the makeup of school boards and even gubernatorial offices.

Parents have created advocacy groups that challenge and fight school policies that attempt to put pornographic material into their libraries and the left fears them so much that they attempt to discredit them as racist organizations and destroy them through lawfare.
Push them far enough and parents will get physical as well. Muslim parents will even unite with Christian parents and push back the activists together.
What the radicals on the left don't understand is that this isn't about a symbol, this is about their children growing up in a land that values free thought, free expression, free worship, independence, and equal opportunity. This is about the safety and health of the little ones they love. They can't lose, because if they do then their children suffer at the hands of people who only love a failed ideology.
Parents don't lose when they amass, but they have to amass. So long as they stay in the fight and teach their children right, the odds are in their favor. Keep fighting and keep informed.
